In the end he doesn’t put it back. Or the guy who gets called out for not putting his trolley back objecting to them saying “you should know better at your age”. It’s characteristic of all people who get mad: they look for something, anything, to focus on other than the unifying principle: they didn’t put their trolley back. Look at the people who take it in good humour, they all acknowledge the fundamental truth: they should have put their trolley back. As stated before, people are not legally obligated to the put a shopping cart, and he makes no discussion between leaving a cart in the middle of the shopping cart versus putting it in a planter, situations where there are no cart corrals nearby, etc.
