you only need two rules:

2) You get banned for trying to waste people's time (this includes the moderators)

A power hungry dickhead might actually be what is needed, effective moderators for such a volatile place need some degree of sociopath tendencies to deal wit the abuse.

As for moral codes, if someone has been here for a while I don't believe their moral code will be a problem.

As for rules and people arguing semantics, I've always subscribed to "Follow the spirit of the law, not the letter of the law, but if you annoy me I WILL use the letter of the law to fuck you up" but I do agree in making clear what is not allowed, but I wouldn't even bother with arguing, they know what they did and engaging with them would be a waste of time and energy while they get to soothe their bruised egos.

another proposal: automatically lock a&n threads after 24-72h, with the option for the local mods to move especially interesting threads to their own special section of a&n- should help keep the amount of active threads to moderate down

honestly i support adding stalin as a mod just because he seems pretty chill and also having a dude with a stalin pfp as an active local mod would probably do a lot to help filter out the alt-right/alt-lite droolers who shit up that subforum - make them feel unwelcome and at least some of them will fuck back off to whatever internet cesspit spawned them

Naw, cause the issue isn't the people doing the rating (especially if they're just rating a post as horrifying or Islamic due to content, not as a dig at the poster).
