I have no idea how it may work in the USA, but I am aware that it was possible to be a UK citizen on long term sick and live in Thailand as long as you attended a yearly doctor appointment to confirm that you were still sick.

Nowadays it isn’t as there are more appointments a year to attend, and perhaps at one point a return flight a year U.K. to Thailand was possible on sick benefits, but not two or more.

If the authorities responsible for the tugboat haven’t encountered this, it might be doable?

He didn’t have to attend regular meetings or anything did he?

Not finnish but i assume they do, us germs have them on our keyboards. You'd never get any work done if you had to alt code every single Umlaut.
