Stefan Burns is currently doing a livestream warning a modern Carrington event might occur soon. There's a really big and nasty sunspot growing very rapidly. He's saying up to 30% chance. Not sure how to link live but he leaves his streams up so I'll most likely grab the whole vid in the morning to post for people.
Lmfao what? That's one of the most retarded things I've ever heard. We do have a very impressive sunspot right now but nothing indicating something Carrington-level

This one just formed over the last 48 hours

I wouldn't say up to 30% is a forecast. This isn't the 80's morning news weather,

X8.37 flare just a few moments ago. 3rd largest of this solar cycle.

Not super eruptive but I reckon we may get part of a CME that impacts earth if it was able to break through the magnetic caging that was in place.

I like how whenever there is a winter storm anywhere, there's always one fatality listed where a dude seemed to think "Yes, now would be an excellent time to sleep outside in the nude."

Still cold as fuck. None of the snow from last week has melted. Its instead formed into solid blocks of ice 3 inches deep. The kids in my area have started ice skating. On their lawns and the nearby cow pastures.

No, I am not joking about that. Seriously, its an ice skaters dream. They can zoom across an entire 5 acre pasture.

I think the most offensive thing about this freeze is Anchorage Alaska is 10 degrees warmer right now.

I'm so tire of being fucking cold. My nose is runny, I've had a sore throat for months, and the watermelon is STILL out of season.

Winter is a disaster.

He's saying 10% now, though to be fair last night it was 10 - 30% anyway:

I tend to prefer winter over summer, fuck I hate the heat. The intermediary seasons are better than both, however - spring and autumn. The only real plus to heat is, if your power's out, it's less likely to outright kill you than bitter cold like this. But it's still fucking miserable, miserable enough that you might be wishing that you were dead, however. Summer just has way too many cons. It's fucking hot, the humidity sucks balls, mosquitoes and other assorted annoying insects, sunburn, having to mow the yard twice a week because otherwise it looks like a good place for the Vietcong to set up an ambush, every other week there's some huge squall line that comes through to fuck you in the ass and rip your roof halfway off.

I'll take shoveling snow over all of that any day. The only exception is ice storms - fuck those.

Is it spring yet? Not quite, but the brief northeastern warmth (2/17-19th) led to a small scale severe weather outbreak.
The highlight of the event is a middle-range EF2 that tracked a little less than 4 miles across areas southwest of Ellettsville and Bloomington, IN.
The damage survey can be read here.
I thought we were about to be done with winter, My area is looking at 7-13 inches by Monday morning, over in NJ I'm seeing up to 2 feet.

Large tornado has been ongoing in Oklahoma for 10-15 minutes, has been unconfirmed by the NWS for ages now.

Strong (potentially violent) tornado ongoing near Helena, OK. Just PDS warned
