I feel like this thread either needs to be a Patrick Tomlinson Universe Doom mod where the Pativerse are the Demons and the UAC was mining Fatrick's fat cells for fuel or a general game idea thread.If you go with the "play as a Kiwi" idea, the plot should be the dimensional merge is on and it's up to the kiwi to shut it down.
It's easy, the problem is the number of frames. I don't know if you have to stick to the Doom colour palette as well? I think it's possible to add more enemies in addition to replacing the base game enemies, so you could do variations on the imp and zombie man with the cows face crudely edited on top.
While I could suggest lots of cows, I think DSP would be good to include. Lots of sound bites and when he dies he complains that there was nothing he could do. Moviebob could also work with his powers being various Nintendo themed attacks like fireballs, Megaman buster arm, etc.
One of Elon's attacks should be throwing blue-checkmarks at people.
Another idea for lost souls. The ResetEra logo (or similar community) since all their users are lost souls.
You could do these as episodes. One episode could be attacking Twitter, one a CWC episode, and another a troon episode.
I agree that our first action should be to be decided on a clear and concrete direction before making any assets. The more it just becomes a game idea thread the less likely anyone will do shit.
If we do stick to making this a Doom mod, we NEED the Patrick Cacodemon, that shit is fucking gold, especially with audio clips. I think the more general references that cover more of the forum is more attractive for people who may not be into Shane lore potentially, as if they don't care for Shane, they can come for something else. Lolcows make great bosses, but I do think certain farms figures like dear Sneeder would also be good boss fights.There are like three ideas in this thread.
1. Doom where Fatrick and Co are demons
2. Lolcow themed Doom with various lolcows
3. Where ecelebs and Null are enemies for some reason
This sounds like a great idea, I mean Sonichu alone fits this perfectly as it literally is based on Pokemon. This does tie back to us needing to decide on a clear path for the game so we don't go off in tangents and achieve nothing.I feel like if anyone here has experience with Pokemon modding, that would be a good idea for a Lolcow themed game. Pokemon Clover was pretty fun and was basically all Fake Pokemon based on 4chan memes, you could probably have fun with Lolcows evolving into other Lolcows. You could have Internet Tough Guys like MovieBob, Shame, and Pat be the Hitmonlee, Hitmonchamp, and Hitmontop of the game.
That would be a very sprite heavy game and most Fire Red mods are supposedly pretty easy to make.

Haven't looked at anything technical yet but I'm a software dev with a lot of time on their hands lately, and this sounds like a fun project

I think you're on to something. We have a lot of ideas for stages ranging from various cows to various ideas. The main hurdle seems to be a unified vision for a storyline for the game. Perhaps then, a good way of getting out all the good ideas for stages, while also making progress, is we develop the individual stages and maps, like Twitter map, Shane map, Fatrick map, Catboy Ranch map, etc... and then we see how we can maybe put them together as a cohesive game. What do you guys think?I'm with @Kane Lives , only I'd go a set further and say the best way to start would be to run it like a community map contest. Choose a Doom map format and maybe a texture pack. They give a list of possible themes like "Twitter" or "Tranch" and give people a month to submit maps.
Even without the lolcow theme, I'd be happy to see a KF Community Map Pack.
