Why is there a share button on posts?

Who the hell uses it? It's not that different from a share button on a porn site. Like... why? Why would you want to not only, possibly, phonebook yourself but share, on your social media, the shame that you are a NEET who posts on an obscure internet forum all day.

The only reason I know it exists is I accidentally click the damn thing when cycling through highlights.
