You know its going to be shit and yet you go watch 3 times because you have a lot of disposable income (or very poor budget management) and somehow enough free time.

Seriously, I kept hearing so many people over how they werent going to watch this and yet this movie is making billions and nearly overthrowing Avengers Endgame for the second highest grossing movie slot.

So you would think it has an amazing plot but no, its just more of the same and I dare to say somehow worse.

So we gotta put our detective hats and solve the mystery of "What the fuck is wrong with a society that makes Avatar 2 that much god damn money?"

This is half joking half serious but hey, it can be fun

its a good movie for normies. thats about it. Talking to more of my family members recently and tbh the internet's opinion on things is super skewed on any one side. Normies just love that shit. pretty graphic. easy to follow storyline (blue monkey alien fight capitalism), and novelty of costing a shitton of money to cgi. Its also well marketed.

Aside from Top Gun 2 which was already out of the theaters by the time Avatar 2 came out, every other blockbuster was garbage.
Especially MCU has been shitting the bed lately, their movies since Endgame have been absolute garbage.
The current one, Ant-Man 3, is borderline unfinished with the CGI looking much worse than Iron Man 1.

Avatar 2 has hands down the best CG in a long time, possibly ever.
It's a simple story that doesn't require you to watch 5 other movies and 2 TV shows to understand.
It's not politically charged and it doesn't make any analogies to things happening in the world, it's pure escapism.
That is exactly what people needed and that's what Avatar 2 gave them.

there really are people out there who just want to go see a movie and have a good time with friends and/or family and not waste time getting real mad because the story is uncomplicated or whatever. it's nice to share an experience with people you care about and talk about it later, and compare/contrast your perspectives. even if you're one of those chronically online types that spends every evening gnashing your teeth about trannies and bugmen, find some friends and just go do shit with them and don't think too hard about it. it's fun.
