My husband went to GATE as a kid because he was also gifted, and he told me he hated it because all the kids were rich and he was from a poor family. He also got kicked out.

Which, yeah, if I was poor and around only other rich kids, I'd hate it too.

I think i was from the most wealthy family as some of the kids in that class had shirts too small, got bitched at for it too or were just dirty all the time and stealing the teachers mints and candy canes.

Maybe it's just the area he came from, because he told me at that one, they all had money and rich families. It sounds like it really sucks if you go there as some working class kid. He told that he had nothing in common with the rich kids and was happier being in a regular school.
