what up shiftheads. some updates to keep everything in order.

SHiFT has been making massive gains in the spongbob BFBB speedrunning scene and is now approaching what he believes might be the end of the run, as each newly discovered strats offers diminishing returns in not only time saved but risk and difficulty. its only a matter of time until a prefect run of sub 40 minutes is achieved. it took SHiFT 1 year of grinding to push the game under one hour, from then it took him 3 years to get it under 50 minutes and an additional 5 whole years to achieve the current reccord of 41:03.
The game is almost at its apex and to push it under 30 minutes would likely never happen, Even if SHiFT spend the next 10 years (one fifth of his life in total) grinding unless some unrealistic arbitrary code execution is found.
SHiFT thinks this record will happen within the next 18 months.
After this milestone is achieved. SHiFT will finally finish his magnum opus. The speed lore documentary series. He states he will continue speedrunning the game EVEN after the first 39 is achieved.

In other news SHift has taken a brief vacation to grind the new patrick star game and make some fat dollars making content about it for a few weeks. Of the current 7 runners, SHiFT is second.

BFBB community discord banned people for basically nothing other than jannies disliking folks so I talked to banned people since they were boogeymen or made fun of in SHiFTcord, I found ideac before I even knew what he was about. but typically he spends 9 hours at a time speedrunning bfbb, should you tune into his streams, there is a 95% chance he'll be speedrunning battle for bikini bottom.

It's funny, I have been following Shifts content for a few years now, but I never watched him live, I only watch the world record video he would post every few months. Wasn't surprised to find that he has a thread on here.

I know a lot of people meme on him for sperging and getting all mad all the time. But I will say, I would also go insane if I played the same game for 10-14 hours a day, that consists of frame perfect tricks every 30 fucking seconds.

Because I only watched the WR videos, I never paid much attention to the sperg outs, I would only noticed him getting mad when he messed up a trick in a WR run and he would sperg out. I did find it strange when he would all of sudden post a video titled "apology and moving forward" with his goofy ass serious face. I didn't watch any of these videos.

One thing I don't understand is Shift's refusal to diversify his content, I follow other content creators who have been speedrunning the same game for years, but they mostly do challenge runs. A perfect example of someone who still makes cool content is Joshimuz. He doesn't hold any records and hasn't for years. He self-admit to not giving a fuck about the meta of the game, and he still speedruns the game like it's 2016. He mostly does videos about the GTA: San Andreas, with challenge runs and costume missions or maps and other mods. Joshimuz also does videos and streams about Iracing. And despite the fact that he still plays some old ass game, it feels new, because he doesn't just stick to the same style over and over again.

It's a terrible decision to stream or make content about the same thing over and over again. Because your content will only appeal to one type of audience, and those people will move on to other things. The goal as a content creator is to cultivate an audience who loves you no matter what you do. Good example are the people wh watch Wings play Dark Souls at 2 AM. These people are just their because they love Wings, they don't care about what is being played or anything like that.

The guy who called Shift the definition of "sunken cost fallacy" is spot on. I would just like to understand the logic behind playing the same shit over and over again, just to shave off a few seconds of a world record that you have held for over 6 years.

Shift normally sets his YouTube VODs to members only, however his most recent one is public, so I took advantage and scrubbed through it for clips!



Nothing too new, just more funny rage. Seems like the reason he raged so hard on this stream is because it's the furthest a run has gotten in a month. I do have some comments on the last clip I have.

The message that set him off, which again, it's not new for Shift. A fan sends a message saying Shift should step away from the game and Shift takes it as a slight against him and goes off.



To me, the interesting part of this clip is right at the end. I've seen Shift doing this recently when a run dies, whether it's 5 minutes in or half an hour in, and he winces in pain. Like it's physically hurting him when he has to reset a run!

Is this fucking insane or am I overreacting? I have literally never seen a speed runner do this!
