Sisyphus looking rough from rolling that boulder up the hill for 9 years. What adds insult to injury is that he’s the only one grinding this game (At least, when I was watching and I have no reason to think that situation has changed). At least other speedtrannies have a community of other autists to generate a sense of competition, camaraderie, clout, etc. with this there’s no semblance of having any sort of purpose (nor is it even enjoyable). It’s one man’s self-imposed hell, kept up in hopes of maintaining the meager twitch revenue stream.

My thoughts exactly. It's the bleak reality of speedrunning with all the pretense stripped away, grinding until you despise your favorite pastime. I can't imagine it's any more lucrative than normal gaming livestreams either. He makes for a good cautionary tale.

EmoSHiFT is a little disconcerting, a tragic sight were his situation not self inflicted. It's a shame because he could be a decent content producer if he channeled his efforts elsewhere. RageSHiFT has so much entertainment value, but I bet his spergasm when he finally brute forces his run past the 40 minute mark will be legendary. I can't help but root for him.

My god. I can't claim to remotely understand speed running as a hobby, but someone devoting so much of their life to playing a single SpongeBob SquarePants game over and over again is breaking my brain a little bit. I know this guy is doing it primarily for money, but at some point it can't be worth it anymore. Doing nothing, day in and day out, but making SpongeBob run into the same fucking walls over and over for years? I would rather work at McDonalds at that point. There has to be more to this than just the money- if his goal is just doing Twitch streaming as a job he could probably do shit beyond playing this single game. It's like a compulsion he hates but can't stop. The guy is stuck in a miserable Groundhog Day loop, and it's kind of morbidly fascinating.

This dude is like everything wrong and astonishing about not just speedrunning but competitive gaming entirely, sans the troon out. The constant need to get better and better at the most innocuous, insignificant game for no reason other than money besides to just "git gud" at the cost of whatever sanity wrings out of his brain. As such you'll see a lot of sperg outs and tardrage moments for not getting what he wants, but in the end he just keeps going at it, all to get that "PB". It really is fascinating to watch a man tackle a sisyphian task of getting faster and faster times over a 20 year old spongebob game over and over again, it makes me wonder what would happen if he reached the fastest time like that of a TAS run, would he kill himself once he has no more hills to climb? Watching SHiFT now is like watching Aaron Kyro, someone you binge watched for months years ago that wound up a bum today. I'd been watching him on and off since 2017, but around 2021, he stopped running other games, whether it was for a joke stream or speedrunning shitty 2000s games, and there was a total shift in his expectations amongst the speed running community. To him, everybody was suddenly against him and him playing BFBB in particular (which is fucking bs, theres a laundry list of great games with little to no speedrunning activity). Around 2022 I started uploading my own shift clips, so I saw the trolling community in it's infancy. (To my knowledge, SHaFT was the very first dedicated shift trolling channel.) It's just fucking sad to watch, I miss when this guy was laughing his entire stream including his bfbb speedruns. He's openly said he doesn't care about views, he cares about respect from the community for spending now over 21,000 hours running the game when genuinely, nobody fucking cares anymore. Outside of his rants, you're watching the exact same cutscenes and intro and dialogue because hes resetting within the first 5 minutes 80% of the time, it makes his 2023 explosions look actually watchable. He does this every single day for 10 hours. How the fuck does a human life like that.

Dude just needs his mom to shut off his damn internet. (He lives in her basement although shes never appeared on his stream before)

Maybe there’s some missing context, but that guy does come off as an annoying tard. (I suppose banning such people is an invitation for them to become ‘cord-faggot A-logs).

Theres actually a few runners who are active, one recently took 8th place on the any% category 4 days ago, although I don't think they have any direct nor do they want any contact with SHiFT. I don't think it was until very recently, maybe a few months ago, he started ranting about community respect over good runs he feels he "deserved". Particularly if he's heated enough to do a troll rant.

theres a youtube viewer, NOT subbed, way more annoying that gets a pass from mods/shift, its pretty ironic i know but heres some of this guy. I thought CaptainChaotix was a little annoying but he just enjoyed the content, and was a paid subbed. This guy isnt and is on Shift's stream all 10 hours..
