My very first thread on the farms, and since I have always a good time reading let's sperg threads, I've decided to do one as well.

The game I'll be playing and showcasing is this:

This game is also known as Ragnacenty in Japan, and Soleil in Europe. It's basically Mega Drive's own Link To the Past.

The abridged version of the story is that in the beginning, there were monsters roaming around. Then one day a light beam nearly drive the monsters to extinction, with the survivors hiding in the dark. Humans popped out and all that jazz, progress ensue, all while the monsters were all patiently waiting for the moment to strike back.

After pressing start, you'll get prompted into this screen:

Four save file slots. You can delete the files and move them between slots, but not copy them. A shame, but this game is not a hard one. In fact, it's a bit easy and becomes easier when you progress through, due to the gimmicks it has, even with some enemies being rather cheap.

Canonically, the protagonist is named Corona.

Corona just finished his 14th birthday, and the law of the kingdom of which the story takes place dictates that boys who complete 14 years must become knights as part of a "grow up proccess". It's not only mere lore, it actually has a training camp for greenhorns and three training courses.

Happy 14th birthday. The best gift someone can get in Soleil Kingdom is conscription.

You must talk to the three characters around the table, then try to leave. Corona's mother will trigger a message and when you go to the upper right, you'll hear some firecracker sounds. Corona's buddies will tell you that a knight named Amon is going to leave in a crusade of sorts.

Leave the house and go west until you find a fountain. Then, go upwards towards the castle. Then go up again and a cutscene will trigger.

You're going to get a reward too, but not until very much later on.

Sir Amon gets a new sword and the blessings of the King. A cutscene happens, he leaves and you're able to control Corona again. Go talk to the king and he'll open up the path to the Rafflesia Training Grounds. Then, go south until you find a bridge of bricks. That's the exit of the town.

And that ends up the OP for this let's sperg! Next time, I'll cover the first areas you can enter, Rafflesia Training Grounds, and Mount Dahlia.

I always though of Beyond Oasis as the Genesis equivalent of Zelda. At the very leadt it's the missing link between LttP and Alundra.

Beyond Oasis stands a bit on its own to differentiate itself from LttP, though, and has more emphasis on fighting rather than puzzle solving and exploration is a lot more linear. CoC offers a bit more Zelda-ish feel, because of how the game develops itself. The only difference being that while Link learns to swim, Corona learns to jump.
