Shit that reminds you that you’re getting old - Re: Fwd: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Fwd: Damn young’uns

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I find myself hating anyone under the age of 20 now.
When I started teaching piano, my own mentor told me that there's a sweet spot with kids who are 5-9, but above that they became assholes. She was right: kids turn into dickweeds as puberty sets in. But even the 5-9yos are being taken over by iPads and shit. It sucks.

Cosmic brownies, man. I used to wolf those down by the box as a sugar crazed idiot child but now, I ate one and it was just greasy and slimy. The only good things were the sprinkles. You can't fuck up sprinkles.
The only thing now I can eat and not get sick off of is Nutter Butters and Nutty Buddy Bars. They taste pretty much the same as they did when I was a kid so thank god for that.
Yeah Agreed on Cosmic Brownies, I had one a few months back and they've become worse. But, I still think they're okay but not something i would really go out of my way to get. That Being said though, Their oatmeal creme pies are still good.

And slimmer.

He can fit in my old, good suits.

Bastard.
I went big fat around thirty then swapped hard into standing desks and bicycling but yeah there was a minute where I was looking a shitload older
nowadays I've even gotten carded for 18+ shit like caffeine pills if I'm close trimmed on my beard so it's not as clearly GREY EVERYWHERE

I have some big rave shorts that I got immediately out of high school and I'm quite proud that I can still fit into them, however garish and stupid they may look now that I'm not tripping balls
I find It's especially jarring when you look at a video or picture of yourself from ten years ago and compare it today. The facial structure is the same, you know the man you're looking it as you, it's just that he's much more youthful
for me it's hearing old recordings of me, I'm not necessarily jelly of Old Me but holy shit that was soooooooooooooo twenty years ago when I hear me from twenty years ago

got a mess of pics from my dad of family and me, tbh the look of 18yo Me vs fortysomething Me isn't half as bad as I suspected, but I have a hat on in those pics so that probably doesn't quite sort out exactly right

Most of mine are similar to others but anyways:
  • A local oldies station used to play doowop and Little Richard and motown. Now, it's Usher, Aaliyah (?), Destiny's Child, Celine Dion, etc.
  • Went back to college and hung out with a classmate much younger. He said his great-grandpa was in World War II and couldn't believe that mine was born during the Civil War. This was 7 years ago...
  • I get lumbago now that puts me out of commission for the day.
  • Niece was just a newborn and now she's running a business and getting married. Put on a record for my even younger nephew when he visited and he pulled out his phone and played youtube videos during it. He's old enough to drink and work construction.
  • The floppy disks I was using to store essays circa high school (as well as some midi and realmedia files) are now degraded and lost forever, like dust in the wind... there were jrock songs that I don't think exist anywhere on earth.
I miss watching The Weather Channel on television.
To anyone who misses the Weather Channel, I have a gift for you:
It's a great source to discover smooth jazz and fusion if that's your thing. I was making a smooth jazz chart for /mu/ but the philistines didn't really care. Hope you kiwi friends can appreciate it at least.

Screens, screens, screens. Screens everywhere. I remember when the only screens were the tv and desktop but now it's everywhere you go and it's all headache educing and nauseating.
Have you ever noticed how young people don't use desktops and laptops? It seems that everybody under 25 browses the internet on their phones or a tablet. Which for me is very inconvenient and uncomfortable to do.,I'd rather have a keyboard to work with.

I tried a Twinkie a few years back, it tasted awful. Greasy and a weird artificial aftertaste.
I imagine they use far more artificial coloring and ingredients now to mass-produce these goodies for lower cost and higher profits - flavor and quality be damned.

You don’t see as much of this type of USB (Known as Mini-USB) before,
Sadly, I agree. I have a digital camera that uses this kind of cable for direct transfer, but the original cable is lost and finding another one in my array of cables or looking for a replacement one has proven difficult. It ended up easier to find an adapter to plug the memory stick in computer's USB port.

I'd rather have a keyboard to work with.
I feel the same way. Trying to text on a phone or use a touch-screen style keyboard on a tablet-style device just doesn't seem as easy r natural to me.

Despite being a Kiwi a don't feel...what's the term anger? Disdain? Disgust? I don't feel like calling people slurs as much as I used too, i don't feel like some "based" rebel who goes against the mainstream saying no to the rainbow mafia and all that jazz we say we do on here.
I think most Kiwis simply enjoy having this site as a virtual water cooler of sorts where members can shoot the shit, discuss whatever, or collectively observe and discuss the lulzy behavior around us without being restricted by political correctness, preferred pronouns, or other pretentious rules of social conduct.

Thread tax: Runing into a classmate during a weekend event and learning at least one of his kids, if not both, is now a teenager.

When I started using the internet, it was on bulky desktop PC with CRT. In other words, like TV, the internet was something one could only access in certain places. Nowadays, everyone and their dog can access the internet almost anywhere in this world because of "smartphones", which can contribute to the feel of tech being oversaturated. Especially with "social media culture" being ubiquitous.

Since I normally don't use a "smartphone" to access the internet, I still usually use the internet the way I used to use it back in the '00s and late '90s. Which means that if I'm out and about, I'm naturally disconnected. I imagine the average "Generation Alpha", "Zoomer", or maybe even late "Millennial" kid would find that way as quaint as I may see living without electricity.

Speaking of aging, I think more and more types of food cause mild indigestion as one grows older.
Have you investigated whether it's lactose intolerance?
Most of us produce less lactase as we age, and this doesn't necessarily apply to you, but people who have eaten dairy all their lives often don't realise how much milk, butter, cheese, cream etc is in their diet until they consciously cut it out.

And this post is the epitome of the thread title, trying to give indigestion advice on a tranny killing shit posting forum.
My back hurts and I don't like the look of those youngsters across the road.

I am still running numbers on how much a certain good would cost in Deutsche Mark rather than in €, and zoomers are asking questions what all of that means...
I forget what they were, but I used to know the quick-and-dirty conversion rates for a few eurobucks, like how I still recall "1 pound ~ 1.5 dollar" and "1 yen ~ 1 penny", think it was the Franc and... forget what else

The only exception to that I could think of is twitch streamers.

Deutsche Mark
I miss when European countries had different money. Now it's mostly bland "euro" instead. Looks like an analogy of "globohomo" there.

I've tried using the internet on a tablet and "smartphone", and it sucks.

It takes 3 times as long (and easily as many attempts) to type or get something done. The (tiny) awkward touchscreen the fingers block. The lack of "fine control" one has on a normal computer.
(also "mobile-friendly" sites seem watered down or lacking)
