Shit that reminds you that you’re getting old - Re: Fwd: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Fwd: Damn young’uns

Someone who expects to be paid back for something initially presented as a "gift." My guess is you're probably not that old because it's only fairly recently that people have stopped using that phrase because "dass rayciss" or something.
Or someone who gives you something and then asks for it back...

I remember it becoming taboo in the 90s, but I also grew up in Wokeifornia so other people's experience may vary.

Nah, I suspect that it's more because I'm not American. We only have red dot Indians on my continent. Still, I'm mildly surprised that it hasn't shown up in the colossal amounts of American media I've consumed over my lifetime.

It showed up in a Seinfeld episode in 1993 called The Cigar Store Indian. That's from Wikipedia. I can't think of any movies offhand.

I can't believe I'm this close to fucking 40

There's too many!

-The MCU is old enough to have its own Bar Mitzvah.
-The kids from the Neverending Story are now closer in age to the Bookshop Owner than they are to Bastion's father in the film.
-Jim Hensen has been dead for 31 years.
-Chris Farley has been dead for 24 years.
-Madonna was once thought to be attractive.
-Bruce Jenner was once known only as a former Olympian gold medalist.
-The average college student has no memory of 9/11.

When did mallgoths go extinct in the wild?
My boomer parents explained one of the reasons why hippies died as a movement: because their trappings were being sold by the very corporations that they protested against. I think it’s a bit similar with why Goths stopped being a thing. Basically a combination of: 1) they grew out of it and 2) it became too mainstream.

1. I used to be into "older women." I still am but now they're just my age.

2. Once I was running a tabletop rpg for my friend group. It was Legend of the Five Rings, which is fairly lethal if you get into combat. So one of the players, before opening a door to investigate a disturbance, jokingly said "Ok I save my game." I told him "I'll let you do it if you pay me $15 for a memory card." That is now such a dated response it wouldn't even occur to me to say.

There are many things.
- Remembering when CRTs where still a thing,
- Seeing the old William's Street Logo after an episode of Harvey Birdman : Attorney At Law
- Home Movies was still airing, (That show is 21 years old now, goddamn)
- [adult swim] Traffic Bump
I can't think of anymore as of now. When I can, I'll probs make a new post.

(P.S. For all of you people who don't know/remember what I'm talking about, I put some links on some of the stuff I mentioned.)
