Shit you liked as a kid, does it hold up? - Ineveitably the answer is no

A lot of music I liked as a kid doesn't hold up, but one band that I loved as a kid was KISS. When I became a teenager I shunned them for being commercial trash, now as an adult I have come around again. KISS were fucking awesome.

Some years ago I happened to catch the two Ace Ventura movies on sale at a local retailer and I decided to get them since it was a cheap two-for-one deal and I remembered loving them as a kid. I legitimately could not get through the first one because I was cringing so hard. I didn't know this was even a thing, but holy fuck did my tastes change as an adult.

I also often find myself in awe of how shitty I find cartoons now, that I loved as a kid, almost without exception. I also now understand why my parents used to complain about how loud they are. It's as if the voice actors are legit screaming every line for no apparent reason at all.

I posted about this in another thread a while back, but when I was a kid I was the ideal age to be a teenage mutant Ninja turtle fan. I had all the merch, toys you name it at the time. I was going back through childhood shows to see if I like them enough to get them on physical media, I was stunned how awful TMNT was. Games remain fun, but the show itself has not held up well at all. I had forgotten how awful the so-called fights are. People my age you have fond memories of that show are remembering a show that never existed.

That is in contrast to two other shows I watched as a kid, Real Ghostbusters and DuckTales. I watched a couple episodes of both and they have definitely held up.
