Shit You Think is Spooky/Disturbing - Beware! You're in for a scare...

I am a very kind person very empathetic love animals cats and my fellows. every now and then however I get an appetite for disturbing things that really unsettle the absolute shit out of me. Since I don't like watching awful tthings happening to people, usually my favored content is of the fictional variety.

Some of the most surprisingly good disturbing short stories I have found actually come from Stephen King. The two that stick out are Morality and Cain Rose Up. I think these are much better at unsettling the man compared to some of his more famous novels because these stories could be very real...no supernatural Hooey to be found. Those things can and do happen.

And now I will share a story that is not fiction, one that I definitely did not enjoy learning about:

This girl I dated in high school had a little sister that was about 6 or 7 years old. Super cute, happy and energetic and just adorable and fun to be around, which wasn't normal because I usually found kids annoying. I remember seeing these little red dots on her arms sometimes, and I vaguely recall hearing her mom talk about how it might be a rash once. The family moves away during my senior year and I lose contact with my ex for a long time. This was just before social media was really a big thing.

Around 9-10 years later we reconnect. Apprehensive to talk about her family when I asked how they were. What I managed to gather eventually was that her little sister was now in some sort of home for troubled teens. All she would tell me was when they moved out of that old apartment, her parents were going through her sister's dresser to pack clothes, and hidden in the back of the bottom drawer they found this little plastic toy bowl that had a bunch of what looked like tiny bits of eggshells and grass inside of it. The parents were very confused so they rummaged around some more, and found a pencil box with a couple of dead field mice and baby birds inside. They were riddled with thumbtacks.

I don't think I'm scared of a lot of things or anything really. Of course I don't want the people I care for to die and stuff like that but generally I would say I really don't fear many things, but I will say my one fear is losing my mind. Like as in, going schizophrenic or crazy or thinking extremely irrationally. I'm scared of how it'll feel to me, how it'll affect others around me, just everything about it.

People should of course beware of strangers, but the people who are the closest to you are statistically the most dangerous. Albeit, this is because of the close access, but it's often unavoidable. An acceptable risk you need to take.

Your son could kill you in your sleep after a disagreement, your brother could rape your daughter, your wife could try and kill you etc...

Nobody is safe, they are everywhere, and they are out to get you.
Whenever you are arguing with someone or trusting them, consider the likeliness of them killing you. It's never 0 is it? And yet, you take the risk every time.

It will catch up to some of us eventually.

There are no monsters, only people.
Somehow, that is worse.

Existential Crisis that comes with living eternally enough where time values become so huge every major thing we experience becomes petty in the long run. I talked with the Mormons about this and they explained that God has a way to circumvent this issue and allow us to recall things precisely in an unimaginable amount of time.

I've got one more realistic & one more supernatural that both really messed with me. Will spoiler the latter in case you don't like supernatural shit.

The realistic one is quite simply aggressive drunks/tweakers/schizos. Have had terrifying experiences with them, not fun being chased down late at night by some knife wielding methhead who's convinced you were trying to kill him earlier despite not knowing said methhead.

At my old house I'd hear scratching on the attic floor, which was strange since it was mostly carpeted apart from 2 seperate storage sections that were tucked away and concrete. I'd always check thoroughly the day after but never found signs of any animal, never had micr, rats or anything. Raccoons and opossums aren't a thing where I live in the world. I'd find long scratchmarks in the concrete at some spots but nothing more than that. It couldn't have been a or anything since while the house was very old, the attic got renovated about 4 years prior, was fully enclosed and my cat never went up there.

Adding to that, one weird occurance when my mom and sibling were visiting.
My mom had this weird habit of just going for a leak with the bathroom door open. My downstairs bathroom was tiny so if she did that you could see her. I walked through the hallway and the bathroom door was open and I saw someone sitting there, just a silhouette. I quickly turned away and walked into the living room and said aloud "oh jesus *sibling name* does mom do this at your place too?". My sibling reacted confused and said my mom was out back having a smoke, right after which sure enough my mom stepped back inside from the backyard. This freaked me out a bit, I'd had the scratching before this and seen dark figures out of the corner of my eye before this, which I just chalked up to being tired/not feeling well etc, but this was too much and it made me start looking into moving.
