I can get not getting a AAA developer for a tie-in game, but presumably they wanted to make a profit off the game.

The only tie-in video game to ever be legitimately good was Goldeneye and that was specifically because Rare had the stones to delay it quite a long time instead of rushing out a shitty cash-in like they'd been asked to do.
Would you count the Riddick games to be tie-ins?

Which is why they went for the cheapest developer available and hoped the brand would sell itself, like they expected for the movie.
they should have went for the new guilting advertisement method

The original 3D Star Wars arcade game was pretty good for the time.

I would have been disappointed if this was not beyond your usual cautionary tail of movie tie ins (ET would be the original example).

Glad I wasn't, because Ghostbusters and 2016 were never meant to be, without dire consequences.

There's a host of quality Movie Tie-In games if you go looking long enough, especially on SNES.
