When I was about 15 I went to this "therapist" who was an extreme Pentacostal. She spoke in tongues and believed all mental illness/physical ailments were caused by demonic attachments and generational curses. She believed they could be cured if you prayed hard enough and banished the evil spirits. My parents were desperate and didn't know she was this bat shit insane going into it. She didn't take insurance for obvious reasons.
I went through these "deliverance sessions" which where like vanilla exorcisms where basically they prayed over me and held a Bible above me, and read Biblically quotes. This was supposed to cure my literal autism and other shit.
She also did this thing called Splankna, which was like Reiki but Jesus Approved. I don't remember much about it, but I would like at this chart with different categories, all listing emotions. I would squeeze my thumb and middle finger together as she tried to pull them apart. She would then list categories and when my fingers broke apart at one category, she would then list the emotions in that category and do the same thing with my fingers. This was supposed to be communication with my subconscious/higher spirit/soul.
Literally nobody I've told about Splankna has heard of it. Has anyone one heard of it? Also any other crazy therapist anecdotes. I have more if this post picks up.
