It's not about what they get right or wrong it's about who is the biggest sperg and from the thumbnail it's the guy holding his hands over his face. Shoe, thanks to the likes of vtubers and Asmongold the roach whisperer has become the new react meta. Never again will her content be safe such insightful commentary as "No way!" Or the tried and tested "That's crazy bro!!!".

As it happens, I got like forty minutes into that dude's reaction and... it was brainless.

Like, for long stretches, he just lets Shoe talk and occasionally just says "she should be called Crap For Brains" without actually refuting her statements.

Other times he makes meaningless statements. Like early on he says she "got something wrong" simply because some random news media article didn't make the same claim Shoe did. At around the point I quit, he was saying "why not just shut down the parts of USAID you don't like, but keep the good parts?" which is either some willful ignorance or some precious naivety that should be protected.

has anyone checked in on greg lately? is he still fucked up on goof balls and thinking hes satan or jesus or whatever?
i dont think ive seen anything from him in a while but i havent really been following him because he just got boring and sad

Shoe did the usual shooting fish in a barrel strategy of trying to pick out some of the dumber things that get funded, suggesting aid is tainted if there were political goals to it, that Americans would often be contracted to do work (rather than sign off billions to other countries), and pointing out some contractors had their performances criticized over the years.

It's pretty easy to point out how aid is still aid, even if it's being provided by an American rather than an African.

Shoe also takes this cheesy talking point that charity/aid is evil and wrong if it's politically motivated. But then often doesn't even say how.

Typically stuff like providing some healthcare for impoverished people in Sudan can make some people there maybe like the US a bit more. That's a politically motivated act of charity/aid, but it's doing some good so it's hard for me to see how people like Shoe would dismiss it?

So Shoe is pretty much talking out of her ass, but enough of her fanbase are about as ignorant as her and will still clap like seals at how amazing a take down the video is of the establishment or whatever.

I checked his channel recently. I was into his alternate history and paranormal crap at first but now he's doing a series called "The Media is Evil." One of the few recent-ish videos I watched was just him blathering about how shows for kids often were meant to sell toys, which like I said in my own eighties cartoon topic is an analysis I find "pedantically true" (in that it ignores that there often is still artistry regardless of the marketing potential).

His takes got dumber as he went on, and really Greg.... the media being evil isn't some grand revelation. At least the alt history stuff was something I hadn't heard before (though even that got stupid when he started using modern movies to prove his point).

I wish he would go back to the paranormal stuff. He sometimes had daft takes there too (I remember the episodes on Mothman making me facepalm) but he also would sometimes have a unique angle.

That said, when you hear one story of an aid agency spreading political radicalism in a neighborhood, its easy to side-eye the rest.

Yeah there's too many ways for the subject to get tainted in people's eyes, so trying to defend it is a shit show.

Especially if it basically amounts to dealing with people protesting with a similar mindset to those that protested NASA years ago who wondered why they couldn't get more money for their own ingroup rather than have the government try doing multiple things at once.

RLM did the same thing recently its nice because its so grounded
its hard to find that kinda stuff because most of the time its just bullshit

Yeah that stuff is what I used to like about his paranormal videos: he went in skeptical but he wasn't a "won't believe in ghosts even while dining with Casper" type of skeptic. In his main stuff he would usually do a "part one is the believer perspective, part two was the skeptical one," with a follow-up on another channel (used to be called Armoured Gregory IIRC) where he went into more thoughts.

But now all his stuff is shit. He's apparently still doing the "History is a Lie?" stuff but when your channel has videos called things like "Was God the Devil?" and "Satan, Our Lord and Savior" I kinda just wanna click off.

EDIT: While I'm on this, there's a few videos where he says he has an extended version on Patreon, and there's a few I'd love to see (particularly the one about the Hopkinsville Goblins and the two-parter about the Karavena incident) but... I really don't wanna have to give this guy money. So I'm wondering if someone else has already taken the hit and put the Patreon versions up for download somewhere?
