Should DST be killed and replaced with a dynamic time that's synchronised with the local sunrise? - we have the technology to pull it off

Instead of switching back and forth an hour each year, couldn't we have a system where time is based on sunrise? like you would set your alarm to SR-0:30 to wake up 30 minutes before sunrise and start your job at SR+0:00 if you're a blue collar worker and SR+2:00 if you're a white collar worker, then work the length of your shift then go home and have supper at SS-1:00, or one hour before sunset. If you have a cushy job you could have shift end pegged to sunset so have a shorter workday during winter

Yes, and make it a poll op

There are a lot of things that could be improved if people weren't stupid but most people are. On top of that it's harder to herd humans than cats, so you better have a very good reason besides marginal gains if you change something like that.

I can handle DLS when it's for like three months over the Summer. But it's most of the year now and it emboldens fuckheads to be mowing their lawn at 8pm.

Fuck time zones with a rake. Fuck DST with an un lubed rake.

If I was dictator of the world I'd have everyone use one time zone. Let's make it GMT for fairness.

Yeah you would have to adjust at first, but would your life really change if sunrise was at 17:00 rather that 6:00 that much?

Problem is it introduces many distinct, dynamically changing, time zones which would be a pain in the ass to keep track of. It's already annoying enough to schedule things in two different time zones.
Ideally you'd have as few time zones as possible to reduce these inefficiencies.

Nah fuck that, I don't wanna reset my watch every few kilometers when travelling. It might be fine if you have radio or Internet controlled watches, but it'd be a pain in the ass with analog watches. Might boost the sale of GMT style watches, though.

you could set it to some sort of national standard time but keep track of the current local time.
