Should I give this game/game series a look?

How is the Dead Space series?
first one is great. great horror, good ganeplay and lots of alien gore if you into that stuff.

the second one is also great. Issac talks now and the gameplay has alot more action this time but less horror.

three was a mistake and EA decided to kill the series for not "selling" well enough. only played some of it but you dont even fight necroses anymore for the most part. just human npcs that will shoot at you and force you too play the game like a typical third person shooter MandaloreGaming made good reviews of all three games. watch them if you want to know more.

I want to play the Yakuza series. Is it okay to start with 1? The games' stories seem kinda complicated and I don't like being left in the dark.
i started with zero and worked up from there. zero is an ok starting point but its clearly made for people who have been fans of the series since the beginning. yakuza kiwami, the remaster of one is yakuza one with some zero pints on it and more of a direct sequel from zero. either start with zero then kiwami or start from the first game and work from there.

Yeah definitely a fine place to start., but by 1 I hope you mean Kiwami because the original doesn't have the greatest combat mechanics which have been much improved on over the sequels. Loved it when I was a teen, but I probably wouldn't have stuck with it if I wasn't so intrigued by the story. You can reliably switch between playing either 0 or Kiwami 1 and have a good first experience, but playing through 0 already knowing the lore sure is a trip
I've heard of Kiwami, but I'm a bit of a purist. I'd much rather start with the originals.
Well if you're going to play the original, I suggest a guide if you want find all the substory missions. Otherwise have fun running around Kamurocho hoping you trigger a mission and that you didn't accidentally skip over it by completing a chapter. Ah, still a fun game though

Has anyone played the new Space Hulk? I was curious about it after playing E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy

I've been hearing good things about the Shadow Hearts games. Anyone here played them?

Think of Dead Space 1 and 2 as Alien and Aliens. One is about finding out about what the horror is, the other one is about fucking the horror up, victimization and revenge almost. Both great games.

I asked earlier, are the Arc the Lad games any good?

i have. all three of them (two being my favorite). if you into ps2 era kind of JRPG, then shadow hearts series is one of the best of its kind.

the first game is horror JRPG. the main protagonist Yuri, is tracking down the man who killed his mother while ending up rescuing a girl named Alice along the way. yuri can transform into different kinds of demons with their own perks and abilities and the story is about him getting revenge and coming with terms of his freaky nature while also fighting off evil beings trying to steal his soul. one thing you need to know is the bad ending is the true ending so you wont get confused once you start with two.

the second game improved the gameplay alot but got ride of the horror of SH1 in favor of comedy instead. the entire game is so cheese and sometimes so nonsensical you cant help but to either laugh at it or hate it since alot of people came to love the theme of SH1. the story is alright but i wont talk about it here since it involves alot of big spoilers from the first game.

three is the black sheep of the series. you either like it or you hate everything it stands for. the gameplay has never been better but the cheeseness of the story and characters has become even worse it may as well be a parody of itself.

if your going to play the games, i recommend that you play with a guide by your side since all three games has easy missable side content and sidequests that will lock you out of some amazing abilities and gear if you miss them.

Just so happens that's one of my favorite era of JRPG's. Sounds great!

Late, but:
I love every single one of them to death. The first is the scariest, the second has the best set pieces and atmosphere, the third one's just an action game with scary bits that you'll want to play just for the hell of it after completing the second. REALLY a series worth your time. Lots of great hard SF and the character designs are great shit. EDIT to add - Deadspace 3 is worth it for the orbital flotilla scene alone.

Do you mean the one from like 2013-15 or so? Poorly balanced, IMO. The tight quarters of the empty ships make things a pain and not very visually appealing. Playing the og game was a blast back then and I'm always up for the boardgame but the new vidya didn't hold me for more than a few missions. I hate that your guys are in huge space armor like walking tanks and ONE swipe from a genestealer just kills your men outright.

Kiwami (and Kiwami 2) are pretty faithful remakes and integrate a lot of the systems you'll come across in later games. Additionally, they are available for modern systems (PC, PS4) compared to a Playstation 2, with all of the graphic details that brings with it.

Yakuza 0 is also a good starting point if you've never played any of the games as well and from a strictly stand alone reference point is probably one of the best Yakuza games to date.

3DO/PS1 Space Hulk was great, it was not about blasting it was about positioning and tactics, like a first person real-time X-Com or chess, with simple rules. Great game.

Anyone got any first impressions on ultimate alliance 3?
Reminds me alot of the gamecube Megaman Battle Network platformer; it was lauded as being hard, but it really only was for the first two bosses and then everything smoothed out a bit. MUA3 is pretty hard even on the easy setting and the computer can K.O. you or the A.I. pretty easily, but it gets better fast. Personally, I like that the game is willing to punch you in the balls a little in the opening, and you get stronger the more you play.
Presentation and fanservice is top-notch. Particle and special effects are great, especially on an early time-stop boss. Kree wear goofy bodysuits straight from the 60's. The individual character intros are nice, probably good for kids but even though I know all the characters already I like seeing them anyways. Voice actors aren't particularly good, but you can tell they're trying. Which is fine, they obviously spent all the money on art and animations, and the women look amazing overall, especially for a Nintendo game.
Controls are okay, you'll suffer dodging and using specials on a 4-player joycon session because the little L and R buttons are really tough to press accurately and fast in an action game. Enemies can cheese you sometimes in a combo, which feels like getting your quarter eaten in a 90's TMNT beat-em-up, but you learn to just dodge faster/attack from range smarter/block and overall feels fair. Rezzing a downed player sucks though, if something's strong enough to kill you, chances are it's going to interrupt your attempt to save someone and kill you too.
Story mode is a little short but you can replay any parts you like whenever you want, and there's a lot of replayability in the Infinity Rifts, which has a strong resemblance to Adventure Mode maps in Hyrule Warriors. There's also a giant hexagonal skill tree to pour points into to buff all characters, and leveling everybody separately.

Very solid overall, doubly so for fans of Marvel or 90's Final Fight/Gauntlet type games, exponentially so if you have multiple controllers and friends to play it with.

I like Monster Hunter. Yes, there is JRPG grinding for new gear, but the main thing is that without leveling your character, you just have to improve to advance and it's playable in small enough chunks to fill an hour or so when you have time if you want.

As for which one, depends on whether you want to play co-op or not. Forget it on the PSP entries, and probably also on the non current Nintendo entries. You need to pay for Nintendo's online service to have non local co-op on the switch one if that matters. If you don't need co-op, freedom unite or 4 ultimate are pretty solid. I think mhfu has a better roster, but the hitboxes are pretty large and unforgiving and were refined in later entries

World is the Persona 5 of the series as far as interface goes, with a lot of streamlining from the previous entries and is probably the easiest entry point. It's slick, but does suffer in monster variety.

That's probably the one I'm talking about. It was 2016. The developers, Streum On, made an Enhanced Edition last year to fix a lot of people's problems with it, but I've just never actually heard anyone talk about it.

How's the gameplay though?

Witcher 1: Combat is kinda like Runescape. Lots of investigation, reading and decisions.

Witcher 2: Some bosses have QTEs but great fast-paced combat. Also has alot of the above.

Overall - Excellent interactive writing and decent combat. The choices actually fundamentally change what happens.

How is the Dead Space series?

I've tried the original Dead Space twice and both times was never able to really get into it, most people seem to like it though.

However I liked 2 a lot, but I never bothered with 3 since I heard nothing but negative opinions.

I think what it came down to me was environments, in Dead Space 1 it's just endless metal rooms and hallways, 2 throws in far greater variety which held my interest more.

Holy shit bruh, play these games. Start with Yakuza Zero tho. It makes the character relationships in Yakuza 1/Kiwami so much more poignant. Because here, we have a game series that is utterly chock full of content, but also a fucking awesome story. The story is so good that I find myself watching old japanese gangster flicks from the 70's like Battles Without Honor and Humanity and being enthralled by them because the games' lore is just so fucking legit.

I started with 0 on PC and I quite enjoyed myself. I played the other two on PC a bit later but I ended up being pretty burnt out since the games tend to reuse a whole lot of stuff and the games tend to play more or less the same. So yeah, if you had to play one, play 0 but it's a great game.

My biggest concern with starting with 0 is that I might get spoiled from its mechanics that going back to the original game immediately after will make it less engaging. I'm the kind of nerd that likes to see how game mechanics evolve over time, which is also why I'm generally iffy on starting with Kiwami since even after that I'd still have to play OG 3 and 4.

Zero, despite being a prequel, gives you the birth of the combat mechanics. They change slightly from game to game, but if you want to know how Kiryu-chan becomes the Dragon of Dojima its best to start with Zero.

Edit posting cuz im drunk:
Do not worru about 3,4,&5.there will more than likely be kiwami versions of each coming soon. The release schedule of the remakes is actually quite exceptionally quick. Just start with Zero. One thing I must advise is to take your sweet sweet time progressing between chapters. Actually do all the side missions you can because you will need the xp from them and the street fights to unlock the skill trees. If you progress too quickly through the story you will find yourself getting your shit pushed in durung pre-boss fights, and that is never fun.
