Should user "Trollish and Suspicious" go to the psych ward?

In summary, the staff don't give a fuck and it's very medication-focused but you will eat better in there than you will "on the outside".
you must be eating absolute dogshit on the outside if you think this, because the food you describe getting on the inside sounds very mediocre and unimpressive

And you can’t cook yourself a proper lunch and dinner outside the ward?

They're just glorified pill dispensers. If you want actual actual help you need to see a therapist. Unless your problem is something that only pills can help with like schizophrenia in which case you probably need a psych
I'm pretty sure in a lot of western countries they're legally required to put you in one if you're an active threat to yourself or others (think 5150, Baker Act, Section 12, Emergency Detention, etc. for U.S. states). That's also what I would assume happened to OP.

OP mentions NHS. In other words, his alternative to hospital/prison food is British cuisine.
Presumably the other inmates are also an improvement on the people and/or Pakistani rapists than he interacts with on the outside.

My fellow farmer, I think you just want to be taken care of by somebody. It can't just be the food that you miss.

I've never had the pleasure of being in a psych ward, but I understand why someone might want to be in that environment again. Daily enforced schedule, decent meals, therapy, meds, presumably a clean place to exist in, and social interaction.

When a mental institution is doing a good job, it should basically feel like being on vacation. Just let you chill the fuck out, take drugs, and focus on trying to relax and clear out the stress and negativity from your head. Americans would be less crazy if they could take more vacations.
I couldn't agree more. I haven't had more than a day trip for a vacation in a couple of years. I feel pretty worn down. Not enough to want to voluntarily go into a psych ward, but there's been moments.

It’s catch-22, almost exactly literally as in the book. You would be crazy not to want a mental health break with someone to just take care of you, so wanting it is proof of your sanity.

I've never been to one but the grippy socks and gowns they apparently make you wear look comfy as fuck

Don't lie. I called you lazy cocksucker because you are. You didn't even finish.
I'll just call you a mutherfuckin cocksucker back.

But it's different here than being patient v staff on a psych ward. The staff know they are in a position of power and control, and if you said or did anything back to them you'd be in a world of trouble for it.

I eat my poopoo. Sometimes microwave it so it's warm and gooey like chocolate fudge cake.

How does that even work? Did she weigh the same as a newborn baby?
At mine there are some anti-suicide measures. The doors are angled at the top, there are no bathroom shelves (just "indents" in the wall to put soap etc) and buttons instead of taps etc. The staff walk around to check on everyone once an hour. Suicide wouldn't be impossible for one truly determined but it does look like a challenge.

Wear your own stuff. The gowns are only if you need an operation or checkup at a medical hospital.

It was in a way like a vacation, just very boring I kindof wish there was more of a schedule like group sessions etc. If you're in there less than 4 weeks you don't pay a cent either. The NHS pay for your stay, energy and meals.

I remember getting a lot of turkey burgers with bacon in the looney bin. Also I was in there with a bunch of good looking crazy bitches who were actually very nice. My favorite was this half black girl who would rub my dick during group therapy. She was pretty funny too.
I had a similar experience in one. it was super low security except for special cases (total nutjobs) and I was there because I was passed out drunk somewhere and so I woke up in a normal hospital with no explanation of why I was there and bolted and security stopped me and through some "miscommunication" from the staff they sent me to a nut house for a week. best vacation I ever had.

Damn I typed a few good stories in this post and lost it RIP

You're almost selling me on this. But then I remember that Babish got fucking raped when he pulled the voluntary psych hold trick, and buttered buns aren't worth that.

God the meatloaf straight up tasted like someone's mom made it and it made the cursed time go by so much faster. Even got fried chicken if we wanted it. I'm with you, the only things worth missing were the forced therapy sessions and the food. Although they had a lot of books identifying local wildlife too so that really made things better too.
Other than that, not much to do in there. Use the internet on your phone (yes, free wi-fi for patients), play scrabble with the nurse assistants or socialise with the patients. Aside from one wannabe hard guy the patients were all a decent bunch. It's basically what you would expect, you've got the guy who walks around talking to himself, the bipolar old woman who is super-friendly one day and psycho the next, the stoners and an unstable self-harmer who sadly ends up being taken out on a stretcher.

Damn, why didn't all the schizos on 4chan tell me that the loony bin is a NEET paradise?

sometimes I imagine the walls of my apartment are padded and I tie myself up with a bedsheet like a straitjacket and then I run around ramming my head into the walls really hard to try and open my sixth chakra and achieve moksha

Idk what looney bin you were in but we weren't allowed internet or personal phone access. We had these payphone style phones (without the pay) that we can call our families on with a preapproved list of phone numbers that we give to the hospital staff, and a community TV with cable. That's it for electronics unless you count exercise bikes from the 80s because the one they put me in had severely strict privacy rules about not being able to record other patients.
Edit: We had access to a radio too but it wasn't anything more than a really old radio and only got local stations.
