Shouldn't people be allowed to kill themselves?

Look into a nitrogen asphyxiation kit. The valves and gas canister are easy to purchase if you pretend to be making beer, and it's a painless death where you just pass out very quickly.
I've read about that too. I actually have easy access to MAID drugs and other "high alert medications" through my line of work so that's probably the way I'd do it, although I haven't reached that point yet. Feels nice to have options

People can kill themselves, but you also have to put into perspective on like how their loved ones will take the news when they do. Which is why I think explains why some (and let's ignore the guys who are just attention whores) people who are suicidal are conflicted with actually going through with the act of killing themselves.

2) kill myself in some violent disgusting way (like hanging or shooting myself) and traumatize the poor civilian or cop that ends up finding my mangled body? Or worse, fail at killing myself and end up in an ICU on life support for a few days until my family is forced to make the decision to let me go. Or live on with permanent brain/organ damage. No thanks. Gimme the sedative cocktail and be done with it pls.
Just cut your throat it's incredibly easy, you can do it with the lid off a can of beans and there's pretty much zero chance of failure. It's not remotely complicated or difficult and I don't understand why you think other people need to help you with it.

I get what OP means, we consider social systems responsible for intervening if someone is about to commit suicide or acting in a way that causes significant harm to themselves like being actively severely anorexic, and we judge that it's appropriate to remove their choice to do so by Section/5150ing them. Why do we do this rather than just leaving them to it? Do we have the right to intervene?

I do believe it's horrendously cruel and cowardly to respond to degenerative illnesses by keeping the person alive by any means necessary, especially when they dip below an acceptable quality of life.

Who said I want people to help me. I just want a method that's legal, clean and simple.

Slashing my jugular, laying there in a growing puddle of blood while slowly losing consciousness? seems unnecessarily gross and undignified, also cruel to whoever finds me.

I'd rather go out in nature, play my favourite music, swallow my pills and slip away gracefully. Maybe some wildlife can even take care of my remains (cause at least by then I'll be gone). Circle of life!

If someone suffers from depression, is completely miserable, has tried to find a way to get out of their depression but still remains miserable, and has nothing worthwhile going on in their life? If they want to kill themselves, that's understandable. Suicide should be the very last option when everything else fails. And if they do suicide, they should be smart about it - make it as clean, efficient, quick, and painless as possible.
