Shows you've had a falling out with - IE, they just suck now

If you watched it to theorize about what would happen next, you'd be disappointed because the plot contained a lot of red herrings but if you binge watch it as intended, you will enjoy it.
IMO this is a huge problem with TV in general these days. I don't know if it got started with Lost, or what, but people seem to approach every show as a ~puzzle box~ ARG and try to analyze it to death instead of just watching the thing.

God forbid your show has hiatuses. Fans will go over everything out of boredom and then get mad when things don't match up to their headcanons.

She's one of those people that will basically commit to a show even if it annoys her
Feels. This is my relationship with The Walking Dead. I enjoyed seasons one and two, but the ones after that have been one long hate-watch fest for me. It’s a total sunk cost and I should abandon ship, but I can’t. It’s too bad of a show to simply stop watching, and maybe I just need to see every last character from season one finally be killed off until I am satisfied.

Absolute :lunacy: I know.

I think I complained about NCIS a bit in another thread but I'll elaborate here.

The first two seasons with Sasha Alexander were actually pretty damn good. The show took itself a bit less seriously than the likes of Law & Order or even its predecessor J.A.G. and the relatively smaller cast (Gibbs, Abby, DiNozzo, Kate, Ducky and later McGee) made for more personal storytelling. Then Sasha Alexander wanted out, they killed her off within a couple of dumb episodes and brought in the single worst fucking character on the entire show, Ziva, who I suspect was probably the creator's waifu or something because she frequently skirted dangerously close to literal Mary Sue territory. Her fanbase was also absolutely insufferable but that's neither here nor there.

Then the plot-lines just gradually got stupider and more convoluted, the cast bloated up with a bunch of extra characters that nobody gave a shit about and the writers just stopped completely giving a fuck around Season 9 or 10. By Season 11, they finally got rid of Ziva after Cote de Pablo threw a tantrum over gender discrimination or some shit in the writer's room and the show briefly picked up for like half a season. They brought in her replacement, Ellie, who was actually kind of likeable and unique as far as character dynamics went but then they shat the bed again and flipped her character completely after the writers realized that her l33t h4x0r skills meant she could solve half of the NCIS cases by herself.

The remaining original cast members like DiNozzo, Abby and Ducky got completely flanderized and then written off and the ones remaining after that like Gibbs and McGee were given personality transplants from week to week. Now the show is in its, what, 17th season and the writers are either bringing back old characters for a temporary ratings boost or outright redoing old plots with the names changed.

Essentially this show is like 10 seasons past its expiration date and needs to fucking die already.
Korra's third (and to a lesser extent fourth) season(s) are pretty good. If I ever recommend the show to people I just say start with S3 and you can get a somewhat decent show out of it.
Nah, both Book 3 and Book 4 sucked ass and were dumb as shit. I'd argue Book 4 is actually even stupider than Book 2.

Gotham. I was happy when they killed off Will Smith's obnoxious, pistachio headed wife, only to bring her back next season. I tuned out and just in time too, not soon after they made all the character gay or something.

You would have to be casting some dark magic in the studio to make a season dumber than Korra's 2nd one.
Book 2 at least felt like it had some stakes to it, Book 4 was just fucking pointless, Korra has PTSD for half the season, recovers after a pep-talk from the guy that tries to kill her and the show literally exposing on what themes the writers were trying and miserably failing to achieve, we get some half-assed episodes where nothing really happens, including one that's basically a recap episode made to cut down on animation costs, a stupid fight with a giant robot to rival kaiju spirits from Book 2 and a villainess that the show can't even really explain what she's doing wrong so they just flat-out flanderize her and then try to walk it back at the 11th hour by giving her a sob story like 10 minutes before the season finale ends. Oh yeah and Toph shows up, except she's basically teenage Toph in an old woman's body and her grown-up personality is now gone because nostalgia bait.

Fish Mooney AKA Gotham's OC Donut Steel character. Bringing her back for 2 more seasons was one of the most bizarre choices they made, considering absolutely fucking NO ONE liked her, not even hardcore fans of the show. Even more amusingly, the showrunners at one point expressed hope that maybe Fish would make it into the comics. LOL, even DC has better taste than that.

Law and Order: SVU - Boring, preachy, forced. Law and Order has never made any secret of the fact that their episodes are often inspired by real events, but now they're so lazy and have so little faith in their audience that they just straight up state in the episode what case they're ripping off. (As an example, a couple seasons ago they had an episode about a large, super-religious family who had a reality show based on their having tons of kids. One of the officers flat out made a comment like "Man, these guys are even weirder than the Duggars!") Poor acting. Reused storylines. (I understand that at one point Kelli Giddish was pregnant in real life, but they really did two storylines about Rollins being knocked up within months of each other. Mariska Hargitay has been pregnant before and they didn't work that into the show, I don't get why they felt the need to give Rollins Irish twins.) They try to do episodes on relevant topics but do minimal research, so it just becomes laughable. Their Gamergate episode was so embarrassing that it undid any thought provoking message they could have made about the issue.
All I know about SVU is that it has Ice-T and that it also originated this.

So I take it the show's not nearly this hilarious most of the time?

Oh yeah, Walking Dead definitely lost steam. I stuck around because I liked the characters and kept up around the Neegan arc because I wanted him to get his comeuppance. At this point, I just want a grand finale and an explanation for the loose ends and be done with it.

About the only good thing I can say about the sheer awfulness of Walking Dead is one hopes it finally kills off the zombie genre at least for a decade or so.

Keep dreaming. They're ending the main show only to spin it off and follow Daryl and Carol.

I've been waiting going on 20 years now for the crappy, generic quality of police procedurals to kill off the genre for a decade or three. So far, no dice.

surprised no one mentioned castle yet (or I missed it). still haven't watched the final episode, because the last season was just "...wat?", so I tried to keep some of the sanity and positive memories by simply NOPE'ing out towards the end.
I don't mind outlandish stories or twists when they can revive the series for another series or two, but man...

EDIT:
one of the last things I watched was crazy ex-girlfriends, but dropped it around early season two after greg left - no greg no watch, and they tried hard to keep the triangle going. apparently he comes back as another actor at some point, but by then I didn't really care anymore. ironically a mate who really liked it and kept watching was baffled how bad it got, where the quirky/nutty but likebale protagonist goes full mental issues and the tone got more serious out of a sudden! also read up on the ending, and while it made sense to some degree it still felt like a copout with "haha, nope!".

I could only watch NCIS after both dinozzo and ziva were gone (and only really after I started watching new orleans, whatever I saw of LA was stupid, even for NCIS standards).
dropped it at some point again (like most western stuff) because it just became boring, although NO felt a bit more fresh.

it has been pretty dead for a few years tho, where feels like they desperately scrambling to find a guaranteed sales vehicle. edgy fantasy with drama was the new hotness for a while, but GOT killed that so hard people don't want to even remember it.
