First impressions are important. In the original game, seeing That Red Pyramid Thing standing in the apartment hallway makes you go "NOPE." Walking in on what he's doing to the distressed mannequin legs makes you go "OH, FUCK NO." And seeing him the next time - with the monster shoved between his legs, and the moaning noises - is just to confirm what you thought you saw the last time: that this isn't like any video game monster you've seen before. Then you're stuck in a claustrophobic space with what can only be described as being some kind of invincible monster rapist thing in a butcher's smock and giant, iron helmet, who can kill you in one hit if you don't pay attention to his wind-up. I don't care if there's a visible cock or not - I felt every way about that dude that the game director intended for me to feel. And you're reduced to feebly trying to evade him until he leaves of his own accord.
Very little of what I just described would be allowed to be included, today. Did anyone believe they'd actually be allowed to see villains depicted doing anything which might be TRIGGERING? In CURRENT YEAR? It may be labeled "Silent Hill 2" - But that thing with the metal triangle on its head is only here to be a fucking meme. "He was never a rapist. Stop complaining. You don't know what you're talking about. This new version is an improvement in every way, anyway - The helmet now has hemorrhoids. Okay, boomer."
