Silent Hill

Something retards kind of forget when they seethe about Siren is that the first game was intended as a ARG/collaborative game where people band together to discuss the best stategies/solve the puzzles and by the time the second game rolled around they realized the average gamer is a retard incapable of communicating with others to solve problems.

That just sounds like an excuse to produce convoluted bullshit

I'm not trying to sound rude but Siren was annoying and not in the least bit fun to play.
Siren's fun it's just a puzzle game there's an exact way you're supposed to solve its levels. Its all about mindset if you think its a traditional survival horror you'll be disappointed because itll feel restrictive. But if you think of it as solving a series of knowledge checks its easier to enjoy.

The trial and error may still filter people but if I were talking to someone who planned to check it out, that's the advice I'd give.

You know, the more I learn about Ryukishi07, the less I ever want to "play" his """games""" like Higurashi or Umineko. From all I've seen of them or read of people discussing them, it sounds like the most pretentious, self-indulgent garbage imaginable.
It's the stupid person's idea of what smart writing is.
Most artists are cringy fucks and the main issue with him is that he can do so much better but either lost his drive or got infected with Western mindrot

Very fucking retarded. Silent hill is a supernatural punishment and giving it naturalistic explanations like this undermines the horror. She isn't crafting her own hell she's just having BPD meds. The plant doesn't cause the otherworld it was just one of the many conspiracies in the town leading to its decline and decay in the original anyhow. Sure the cult used it in ceremonies but the otherworld is real and distinct.
wrong, there IS a Supernatural bent to the story, as is very obvious if you played the game, there really is some sort of powerful Fox God fucking with people.
there's just not a Fog World where a bunch of people get plopped in, Hinako is being tormented in her mind by the Fox God to try and get her to marry Fox Mask (IRL) because both their bloodlines being combined will empower him..

All you really needed to solve it was the basic premises of Shakespeare's most famous plays, it didn't ask for crazy specific or obscure details.
I can see how it could filter out the most casual players because most people nowadays don't really read classical literature. Hamlet, R&J and Macbeth, sure, but I doubt the average person knows anything about King Lear, let alone Othello.

Until you get the "True" ending, you don't get the full story, which is NG++, there are 4 endings, and the "True" one makes it clear that there is a supernatural bent and that also nothing in the game happens in the physical realm, but in a spiritual ferver Hinako is under because she's utilizing drugs.
all of the events of the game are because "Dark realm" Hinako has become the infecting force that "Fog World" Hinako has to deal with, essentially her Adulthood is trying to kill her childhood.

there are more themes going on, but it isn't "all a dream", essentially.

Which ties into birthing God, something Alessa was raped for.

There are so many Shakespearean retellings in modern settings, you don't even need to read/see the original anymore. But tbh I couldn't name one modern version of Othello... Is it problematic because he is a "moor"?
I'm also wondering whether Japanese people might be more aware of King Lear because of Ran (the Kurozawa movie).
But anyway, this puzzle even gives you room for error if you don't get them all right. There were other obscure poem puzzles in SH3 I found way worse.

Going back to SHf, can a game really be considered good if you need to play it 3 times to get all the clues and achieve different endings?
Also, the one where you fight the fox in the Elden Ring boss arena (who also JUST KEEPS TALKING as if this was an episode of Naruto or something) just seemed way too anime and out of place.

Does NG+ even offer anything new in terms of gameplay / story?
Things change, sometimes it is cutscenes, sometimes it is dialogue, sometimes it is notes. I would say that the way you play it changes and kinda mirrors you getting stronger and more confident to get to the truth. Also there is some more stuff to do, not gonna spoil.

in what way the game is cheap looking my friend
Stiff animations and wooden facial expressions, blurry models and LODs, poor lip sync, a lot of models are low poly and look awful up close, copy paste environments.

This is a PS5/PC game and looks and runs worse than the Resident Evil 4 remake which runs on the potato that is the PS4.

I enjoyed playing this game but it doesn't look very good.

I also don't think a mid looking game should have frequent micro stutters and double digit frame drops, I mean this game is drenched in fog so there's barely anything to render and it still runs like ass.

The normal ending on your first playthrough is also not very strong on its own.

The normal ending is a casual filter red-herring like I said before. it's SH1's "Harry lying dead in his jeep" misdirection.

Also, I do not believe that the fox man is evil or does what he does to gain power. I think he's genuinely in love with Hinako, as he was destined to be by virtue of him being the fox god and Hinako having that non ABO blood type. Even in the "Fox wets its tail" ending where Hinako leaves him to be with her childhood bff who literally roofies her with psychoactive addictive hallucinogens and who showed up at their wedding ceremony and clocked him in the back of the head with a baseball bat, he just lets her leave because he understands that she doesn't love him back.
