a different ending has an elden ring bossfight in an elden ring arena as someone before me already mentioned. its extremely uncanny for this to be in a game called silent hill.
i think it's very mediocre as a standalone game as well, with only a few interesting things that caught my eye, but this is a silent hill thread so i don't want to talk about that.

Buddy nothing about this is any more or less Anime than fighting Alessa Mary-of-Jesus, BAPHOMET, or whatever the fuck that eldritch shit was you fought at the end of 3.

this is just VERY traditional Japanese mythological shit, it isn't "anime", is it the style of the SH1 through 4 bosses NO, but it isn't anime-esque.

I didn't find the writing or the plot to be silly, maybe you are just irony poisoned.

It's a buncha silent hill "fans" excited to play it for the first time. I am tired of the industry trotting these corpses out and trying to slap makeup on em and sell them to me as if its just as good as the original. Why the fuck could they not just give SHf a new name? All the links to Silent hill are retarded contrivances that do nothing but harm the story the game is attempting to tell because of the constant and unwelcome comparison to the good silent hill games.
 
Just finished the "True Ending" (NG++)
I will say that this one has real Silent Hill DNA in it. Something unsettling, something odd, something fucking with your head. It is all there.
Doing repeat runs I encountered things being wrong.
It is probably the best spin off in my recent memory.
Of course I would love a real SH5 to be somewhat more connected with the actual town or cult of SH but even then I don't think being tied to a specific place for so long is healthy. The spiritual connection wanes over time, like radioactive half life.
Team Silent when working on SH5 were making a prequel after all, starting with a living breathing town before it all went nuclear.
What SHf gave us is a modern day confirmation that the god manifests himself depending on the strong spiritual beliefs of chosen people.
If Konami doesn't waste this then they can actually turn SH into a proper franchise where it is an action horror game about religion and beliefs Vs bioweapons that Capcom has.

Agreed. It should be a standalone game; not branded as Silent Hill. They milk for all of the fans' money ($70 - $80) and gave us a lackluster game with a lukewarm plot. Combat system sucks too.

As much as I get what you are saying and find it also accurate from a business exec's perspective, I will say this:
SH2R was "trotting the corpse out".
SHf is no mainline title but it is the best SH since 4 and I want to say that it is better than 4. My favourite is 3 followed by 1. f is like 1 under a fever dream and I love it.

its significantly better than 4, "The Room" had "good bones" but god damn is it a tedious fucking game to play, and the fuckin burping ass nurses.
Saying this game was bad compared to something like 4 is fucking retarded, go back and play 4, cool concept, decent lore, awful fucking dialogue and gameplay, the worst in the series from Team Silent.

It seems the White Claudia thing is a little more indepth than I realized.

essentially the game also has the Aglaophotis that was used by Harry/Kaufman to splash Alessa in the "Agura no Hotei" you pick up and drink.
basically this means with White Claudia, rituals can be done to commune with actual real Spirits and thus alot of the same sort of shit is happening in Forte as it is in Silent Hill 1.
