We're gonna go the way of Final Fantasy and start doing Silent Hill f^2 next.

Maybe do a Kingdom Hearts thing and go with Silent Hill f-2 / 365 days Final Chapter (Prologue of Memories)
My personal fanfic ideal sequel would be one based loosely on Lars von Trier's Antichrist movie, to counteract the feminist pozz on the last one. Based in Japan, but just switch the characters to Japanese. "Silent Hill" will be the Aokigahara Forest, the famous suicide forest.

Maybe silent hill should just fucking die. Why are we so obsessed with these incestuous fag fests? Some nigger in here seriously suggested silent hill morph into an action horror series to rival resident evil. That is the last fucking thing that should happen to silent hill. Silent Hill should just die no one can effectively capture the essence that the originals captured without being constantly infected with fan service.

Make new shit, stop latching onto the rotting corpse of your nostalgia, and quit coping.

that already happened.
PULL THE LEVER

the Franchise jumped the shark long ago, Forte is at least in the ballpark of the OG's in terms of fucking TONE at least.

Going back to SHf, can a game really be considered good if you need to play it 3 times to get all the clues and achieve different endings?
Sure? Ever17 and the Zero's Escape series made you play through them way more than 3 times. Although ZE flubbed the 3rd entry.

Maybe the next movie will be good 🌈
Can hardly be worse than Revelations although that one had quite a lot of unintentional comedy going for it despite mostly being about Jon Snow gawking at poorly rendered 3D ghoulies and acting terribly.

Honestly, SHf doesn't feel very R07 in a lot of ways.
Because Konami approached R07 for some reason with a story already in mind and made him follow their dogshit idea btw. He couldn't make a proper game or VN like he would have, this is Konami's producers game and story, not his. He only tried to make their dogshit "work", I guess despite having 0 3D game writer experience. Self admitted in prerelease marketing and transmissions.

It tells you EVERYTHING that the 1 (ONE), the ONLY game from this modern batch with potential to be great is being held back and delayed while the producers dick around and see what sticks to the wall. Townfall looks like it's sadly gonna be a tax writeoff chopping block game like PT and (less sadly, but still notable) the unnamed 2013 game was.

At the beginning of 2024 No-Code insisted their game would be shown more of in that year. It is nearing 2026. They insist the Annapurna situation hasn't stopped development. It's Konami likely sabotaging/doubting the American-made game, because I shit you not they are THAT petty and hold grudges yakuza-style. Kojima didn't get his rep from nowhere, he got it from Konami and Westaboo tendencies.

All of their American-made games were shit, botched and critically poorly received. A studio contacts them and wants to make a new SH, insisting they're fans once again.
Another one approaches with Ascension, and you know how well that went. They are hesitant to reveal Townfall because it might be another failure.

The combat in Silent Hill F makes no sense for a survival horror game. When I selected the difficulty and it mentioned "action horror" I knew I should have known. Having to manage sanity meter and stamina should not be there. The combat system is bloated and the enemies are too dense, with several gauntlets that strain the "horror" aspect of the game. Tension in this game almost never comes from the music, atmosphere, or story. Silent Hill F is just not scary at all.

The Silent Hill F version of the other world is not intimidating and does not have the same interaction with the town that there is in other Silent Hill games. Hinako just passes out and wakes up there. There is no seamless, immersive integration where it bends and distorts what was originally there into a disturbing caricature of the town.

Aesthetically I can see that it is a cohesive, put-together experience for what it is trying to accomplish. However, it throws away the American cultural influences of the original games that formed the series identity. I don't care about traditional Japanese folklore or mythology. I have no frame of reference for any of this and I actually think it is very boring. I like the heavy industrial/alt rock melodies and melancholic droning ambience of the original games. I like David Lynch movies. This game is foreign and obviously not made with those original inspirations in mind.

Everyone reduces it to, "Oh it doesn't have to be in Silent Hill to be a Silent Hill game". But the differences are way deeper than it being set in another location. They could carry over these cultural influences even within a Japanese setting. They chose not to. That can and should be criticized. It shares some of the same themes and ideas with the original games, but so do dozens of other horror games. This game could have been set in the original Silent Hill town and it would still not feel like Silent Hill.

Combat in Silent Hill 1-4 was pathetically easy, so I dunno about that lessening the horror of THOSE games, Harry Mason was essentially a Demi-God and could kill everything in the game effortlessly, this is the first Japanese silent hill to have combat be anything other than the MC just cakewalking over everything and anything.

This is true, for plot reasons its entirely different, I'd prefer the "Dark Realm" be an even more fucked up version of the town, however, the plot reason is simply that the Fog Town is her in a White Claudia infused drug trip, and the Dark Temple is actual Spiritual God Shit bridging the gap from the Spirit Realm into the Unconscious Dream world, so they are not the same sort of situation as SH 1 through 3.

mind you, SH4 didn't have an Otherworld like the rest either.
