The hardest part about making money on youtube is getting an established viewerbase and he's had that since 2008. All he had to do was keep making relatively consistent videos/streams and he could have been making decent money this entire time. The problem is he would take literal years off at a time and then be shocked when he wasn't showered with money the second he returned. He should have been grateful anyone even still showed up at all after each time he abandoned his channel.
Not only was he ungrateful, but he doubled down and started shitting all over the people who actually were paying him. At the end of the day, 8 bucks a month is a drop in the bucket for most of us, but I'm certainly not handing anything to some unkempt junkie driving around bumfuck Ohio while yelling into his phone camera. You get out what you put in, and he just didn't want to put any effort. He expected people to shower him with cash just for the privilege of seeing him on camera. Delusions of grandeur, anyone?

This retard could have been making really good money on youtube this entire time. Despite being sporadically active on youtube the past decade, he still managed to keep a healthy viewerbase, until he finally went off the deep end recently. He could have easily just streamed consistently one or two times a week in addition to his full time job and made a decent amount of supplemental income.
I have never seen any other streamer get showered with so many superchats for such low effort streams. How do you just throw that away? He's a total fucking moron.

Here is question for everyone here. When did you realize that Rob was absolutely cooked? What was the point you fully realized that the good old days were over and he was heading for a total crashout?

As soon as the fent stuff came out, I knew nothing good was in store for us. I knew this was the end. But I expected him to just retire from youtube. Once he announced the "new channel direction" and started uploading AI songs and ghost hunting videos, I knew things were going to get way more messy. You could tell in the way he talked about it. Anyone could have predicted that Rob would crash out when no one watched his new cringe content. And that is exactly what he did.

It was shortly after his final return when he started getting pissy over people not vibing with his shitty AI beats and "ghost hunting" content that I knew it was eventually going to boil over into a crashout. The drugs certainly didn't help him keep his composure.

I actually paid Rob the 5 dollars back in 2009. His content wasn’t great on his website, but I assumed it would just take time for him to produce content since he was a one man show. I don’t think anyone really had too much of a problem, he just did not like people asking him what to expect. He shit out maybe 3-4 short videos, a couple minutes each from what I remember. It was 100 percent the definition of over promising and under delivering. It was about two weeks when he sperged out and started insulting everyone, so just like everyone else, we stopped supporting him. I stopped watching him way back then, and I think not too long after that he took a year or two hiatus. I didn’t start watching his videos until a few years ago when I subbed to his more recent channel and a few other purely out of nostalgia (like aqualunggamereviews and digital sol). I kind of watched some his videos but never found them that interesting, but I also just kind of felt the 5 dollar fiasco was water under the bridge. I kind of thought maybe he had his shit together? I didn’t watch his sperg streams with Anni so I had no idea he would treat her so poorly. After the fent reveal I genuinely felt bad for him. I knew he was going to be a lolcow the minute he was bobbing his head to the most off beat, off rhythm music. It was fucking intolerable and he was vibing so hard. I know he was not going to take criticism well, at all. I didn’t expect him to crash out this hard and make me a fan again though. That was surprising. I assumed he would just disappear like usual. I’m still suprised he’s hanging around like he is.

When he announced the $8 sub fee I knew the end was near. Anybody that got scammed on that shit got what they deserved. I may have enjoyed his content at one point but I wasn't dumb enough to fall for that shit. These are no effort low quality videos that he locked behind a paywall not a ticket to the newest Tarantino movie. Had he just opened channel memberships and gave perks like early access to videos and access to a discord server while continuing to provide free content like most people on YouTube do the crashout wouldn't have happened. I'm sure quite a few people would've still paid for it and there would've been no issues. But, he wanted his ENTIRE channel to be paid subscription only. His greed killed his fanbase and once he wasn't getting the money he hoped for he nuked it all. Now he wants to act like he can make any money off twitch streaming which is completely absurd. Buddy, YOU DO NOT HAVE A FANBASE ANYMORE. All you have a few people that come around to jerk off to you because they can't resist your ugly junkie mug. The rest are trolls that are enjoying your downfall. Deep down you know these few people that come around are complete retards and until you can't use them anymore you're gonna pretend like they aren't and suck whatever pennies you can left out of them like the jew whore you are.

Oh boy, you better watch with the jew shit. Some Cringe Ass Moron might show up again to call us all dirty jewish trump supporters. Lmao.

"I HAVE NO MONEY AND MY MOM IS DYING, I NEED HELP GUYS!!!!"

yeah, wonder why you're struggling

I was reading this and forgot I wasn’t reading the Lou Gagliardi thread for a moment. What is it with cows and having zero concept of how money works?

Streaming Era 2.0. As in, he started streaming for the first time(Super Metroid, Mario 3, Quackshot, etc) -> took like a year long break from YouTube -> started streaming again with jackiebrownfan or whoever the fuck his friend was.

Streaming Era 1.0
  • comfy longplay of a game typically from beginning to end in one stream
  • minimal to zero gameplay interruptions, guests like Razorfist and Guru Larry didn't slow down the gameplay
  • no long winded conversations with chat
  • no webcam
  • could pick any random stream and have it as background noise while doing other stuff
Streaming Era 2.0
  • schizophrenic streams with multiple games per stream with no effort being put into playing them
  • charging money to play a rom for 10 minutes
  • constant gameplay interruptions by having one on one conversations with chat or guests no one cares about who contribute nothing
  • webcam added nothing, couldn't even bother with a green screen
  • Anni inclusion
  • his Dark Souls 3 second playthrough is the worst thing to ever happen to mankind
  • rom stream #7352, 80% of the roms being played are the same exact ones that are played every single other rom stream
  • would never have anything from this era as background noise
  • didn't even bother watching the last 2 or 3 rom streams before the Crashout Arc began.

Definitely the 8 dollar thing but that's recent. However, if we go back in time, last time I genuinely enjoyed his content was his streams back in late 2012 and the reason for it is because he had this tendency to just go off grid for quite a while and randomly come back one day, just for him to do it again. The 5 dollar/bookitty drama, it makes sense that it made him fuck off for a bit and come back again but he would repeat this multiple times without any explanations (to my knowledge)

Like for example, 2013 was a complete silence from him till early 2014 when he reappeared with his MGSV: GZ video. I think his inconsistency killed it for me (and killed his momentum) but who knows, maybe he had irl issues or just no motivation since he realized his fame was dwindling due to angry reviewer thingy slowly dying around that time.
That's when I realized the good old days were over. He just wasn't into this shit anymore.

But of course, regardless of my opinion, he still had his core fanbase and could've used it in the right way, like stream consistently and the money would flow in with no issues.

But sadly, he's a retard and you know what happened.
his Dark Souls 3 second playthrough is the worst thing to ever happen to mankind
What exactly was his DS3 stream? What are the key points that made it so bad?

What exactly was his DS3 stream? What are the key points that made it so bad?
A little history of his first playthrough and his thoughts on the series for context.

- he thoroughly enjoyed his first playthrough, saying it was potentially the best in the series
- he received criticism that Arbiter held his hand too much by telling him where everything was and fighting most of the bosses for him, said it wasn't true
- after finishing DS3 he rated the series: DS3 > DS1 > DS2, or DS1 > DS3 > DS2 depending on when he was saying so
- eventually Robs patented contrarianism kicked in and now claims DS3 is the worst in the series(with sometimes DS1 being the worst) and DS2 is the best
- he began watching cheese tutorials on YouTube on how to effortlessly cheese bosses, even streaming DS1 and cheesing the Capra Demon without even entering the boss door (this will be relevant for his DS3 second playthrough)
- he finally admitted that Arbiter did hold his hand too much during his first playthrough so he was going to play it a second time, basically a DSP style "redemption run"

Now to his second playthrough.

- it was immediately obvious that he went into his second playthrough wanting to hate it, criticizing every minor thing many of which are present in DS2 which he now suddenly loves
- it was also immediately obvious that he looked up everything beforehand, where to go, how to fight bosses, and cheese tactics
- Rob had looked up videos on how to cheese bosses, which he essentially even admits to doing
- it was Robs first time playing through the DLC since he never did with his first playthrough
- the most obvious and egregious cheezing was his first time fighting Slave Knight Gael, often cited as one of the best fights in the franchise
- he didn't even attempt to fight Gael a single time, instead he cheesed the fight by using the weapon that causes a poison mist and poisoned him and ran away the entire time
- not even one swing on him, just poison, run away, when the poison wears off poison him again, repeat until Gael died
- Rob then claimed that it was a bad boss fight and that DS3 was the worst

I don't even care if he doesn't like DS3. It's his constant flip flopping that has a clear contrarian tint to it that's the problem. How do you go from jerking off DS3 claiming it's possibly the best in the series to saying DS3 is the worst in the series, while ALSO going from DS2 is the worst in the series to DS2 is the best in the series? All while never touching DS3 until he started his second playthrough? What changed that caused that sudden drastic shift in both games switching positions? That second playthrough was painful to watch. Constant bitching and crying. Constant YouTube tutorial knowledge. All while this was supposed to be a "redemption run" due to having his hand held the first time. He made DSP look like an expert.

I really hate that he constantly changes his opinions on games all the time. One day a game is "TheBombDotCom masterpiece" then the next time he plays through it it's "oh, this game is a actually a piece of shit, can't stand this game" even when I liked him that was one of the things about him that always annoyed me.

Rob has no idea what the hell is opinions on games are, he seems to flip flop on most of the Mega Man games each time he talks about them for example. I'm pretty sure a few streams ago I'm pretty sure he said X5 was good LOL

Final Fantasy especially he changes opinions on constantly too. One minute 10 is great next time it sucks, 9 sucks now it's a masterpiece, etc. Holy shit dude, make up your fucking mind. It infuriates me listening to him flip flop constantly.

Can't forget the grandaddy of them all. The entire Dragon Quest franchise is shit -> It's amazing. Not just a game or two, the entire franchise saw a flip flop. I don't think he's done this with any other franchise.

Rob is the last person I'd take any opinion on gaming from regardless of his incessant flip-flopping. His taste is just a mixed bag of shit. And his game streams towards the end were just so fucking lazy that it was nearly unbearable to watch. He started refusing to balance his audio or fix any technical issues with the stream and just decided to take shots at anyone pointing it out instead. "Guys, it's fucking fine-fine. Stop being retarded-ed" as the background noise from his room mixed with echoing audio from his PC blares through the speakers

Quite often he'd have the microphone picking up the audio from the TV in those streams so there was this nasty overlap where you could barely make out the game's audio

He just couldn't balance his audio in general. He didn't want to wear a headset and didn't bother with noise suppression whatsoever. For a guy who claims to be a beast at audio mixing he sure doesn't know shit about audio mixing.

Rob owns too many games, he’s a tourist and never really digs into any games. He’s just a surface level player who flip flops because he mirrors whatever the internet consensus on games are at the time
I guarantee he can't recite one piece of actual lore from any of the mainline series of games he plays beyond maybe Metroid. He is an absolute tourist when it comes to anything remotely modern which makes it even funnier when he tries to talk from a position of authority about these games.
