He is not going to be a high-profile inmate. Didn't kill anyone and I very much doubt that the Michigan penal system has "fucking furry" as a class needing protective custody. He may eventually end up there, though, depending on how fast people decide that he needs a beating.

Simba Lion, a 40-year-old Monroe resident who originally is from Oakland County and spent time in Georgia, remains hospitalized after Tuesday’s shooting.
The Michigan State Police of the Monroe Post has identified the man who reportedly shot two Monroe police officers as Simba Lion, a 40-year-old Monroe resident who originally is from Oakland County and spent time in Georgia.
Lion remains in critical condition at the Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo. According to police, Lion has life-threatening injuries, which were the result of multiple gunshots he suffered when the two officers returned fire.
Lt. Brian Oleksyk said Lion has not been able to speak to investigators because of his condition, therefore any charges to be filed are pending.
“As of right now, he is not under arrest,” Oleksyk said. “He’s a suspect. We want to get his side of the story.”
The officers, whom officials have yet to identify, were released Tuesday afternoon after seeking treatment for gunshot wounds to their legs.
The incident, which began about 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Washington Arms apartments, 725 Washington St., stemmed from an alleged dispute between Lion and a maintenance worker at the complex over the use of pesticides.
Officers responded to two 911 calls that were made regarding an assault complaint. As officers attempted to contact Lion, he fired at them, striking them in the legs. Officers returned fire, striking Lion multiple times.
Lion, according to legal documents, was born Steven Joseph Hopps, in Oakland County. He initiated a petition to change his name to Simba Lion on Nov. 3, 2015, in the Superior Court of Athens/Clarke County, Georgia.
In the petition, Lion indicated both of his parents are deceased and he does not maintain relationships with extended family. He also said he had been using the name Simba Lion for 21 years.
The order was granted Jan. 6, 2016, according to court records.
In screen shots of Facebook forums obtained by The Monroe News, a person identifying himself as Simba Lion indicated he was allegedly in the middle of a dispute with Beal Properties, which manages his apartment building.
Beal Properties lists several apartments at Washington Arms as being managed by the company. Attempts by The Monroe News to contact a representative of the company were unsuccessful.
Those conversations also show Lion was involved in the Furry community, a subculture that idolizes anthropomorphic animals, essentially animals depicted with human characteristics. Often called Furries, the community sometimes dresses up as animals and gathers at social events.
When confronted by the landlord and police, Lion was wearing a holster, which held his sidearm. It could not be determined if Lion had a concealed pistol license. However, during the confrontation with police, he allegedly made reference that he had a legal license to carry that he obtained in Georgia.
It was not clear how long Lion had been in Monroe or why he chose to live here.
I legitimately thought that this was a fake news article, because REALLY? The paper thought to use the name Simba Lion repeatedly?

I thought the same at first but it's the retard's legal name, what are they gonna do? I guess they could call him Simba Lion once and then refer to him as "Lion" (just by his last name) but... come on, some idiot gets taken down with a name like that, you might as well print it as much as possible so no one feels bad for him.
Now that I think of it, if I were to hear that name in connection with shooting cops, I would assume it's some BLM nonsense (we wuz kangs) instead of this sped.

Powerleveling a bit. As a former corrections officer, he's fucked. A few inmates MIGHT give him a bit of cred for shooting cops, but the guards will more than likely make his life a personal hell. No way he's getting PC, his best bet is to join up with the AB, become someone's bitch, or start a fight and be put in solitary. From my experience, gangs don't want cop killers (known that is) in their ranks. Brings unneeded attention.

He'll probably be sent to CMCF, near Midland, after recovering & being sentenced. But he'll be at the hospital/intake center in Jackson prior to; and it'll be a very long time before this guy is anywhere near anything like normal prison.... but that's if he can still control his bodily functions. And depending on how permanent his injuries are, he might never leave.
Med tanks & pretrial pods are almost worse than PC, being stuffed with failed anheroes, mental cases too far gone for g-pop, dopesick junkies & fiending meth monsters fresh off the street, etc.
Even if he does eventually make it to a general population somewhere, I highly doubt AB would approach him for any other reason than a bitch/fall-guy; especially after having legally changed his name to an African king..... aside from all the other reasons to turn him out. And with guys like "Simba", after AB has their way with em (if still alive), they usually get turned over to a rival gang, or used as meat for jumping in a new AB member who's the real deal.
But that's far down the road; if he's not a furry veggy indefinitely, it'll take at least a year or longer before being at least being sent to a pretrial/sentence facility (usually a county jail close to the court jurisdiction), with anything close to a general population, which are a lot different than prison when it comes to inmate politics; there's almost an unspoken ceasefire most of the time. Everyone is either coming or going, and nobody wants to fuck up a release date or whatever.

Most likely, all of his crap will go straight in the dumpster shortly after his eviction is final. He's saved the landlord a lot of trouble by vacating the property, willingly or not.
