Source code to The Simpsons: Hit and Run has been leaked after an anonymous developer on the game handed it to one of the Donut Team modders/Donut Team as a whole.
For those who don't know: Donut Team are a group of Simpsons: Hit and Run modders working on a launcher, open source implementation and massive level/mission pack.





Obviously I can't link to any of this but it's all over /vr/.

Someone made a fan version of the game in unreal just a week or so ago, and it didn't look like they were involved in that mod pack mentioned. Really strange that we're living in some sort of Hit and Run renaissance. Personally I would've rather seen Road Rage source code, just because that game's way more of a mess and would benefit so much more from a source port. Still cool to see this, interested in seeing how things unfold

IIRC: Donut Team ported the maps to H&R but not the gameplay.

Hit and run has surprisingly had alot of content made for it despite it being a shovel ware gta clone that just happened to be good. would be cool to see this make modding for it a whole art form.

This is great news for modders, makes it a hell of a lot easier to make custom maps and missions now.

Might also help them figure out why some cars spawn in with weird characteristics.

I hope that if they expand on it that they add more iconic locations and characters from Springfield. Maybe more interiors too. But more missions alone sounds like a blast. Just hope they can implement some decent voice acting.

Ok, but the game is shit, even if it's one of the better GTA clones, albeit it barely crosses the bar from bad to good.

The design documents and shit is a great insight on the ins and outs of game development, though!

Just realized that there's enough voice recorded in the series that modders could just deepfake any new dialogue. I'm sure all the characters would sound like they're on ambien but that's better than Julie Cavner's worn out voice from the past several years

Apparently, there's gonna be more source code leaks, someone on /vr/ already released the Hulk 2003 PC and claims theres others out there with shit like prototype 1 and 2. He also claims the developer is getting in contact with them to release it, so hopefully we'll see them soon.
