Games like Squad and Post Scriptum are not even close to simulators. Both of those games have stupid gamey dumdum mechanics and do not represent combat in a realistic sense at all. Squad is basically a World War Two first person shooter but with a modern skin. There is virtually no modern combat elements to it at all.

Did they made FS2020 any lighter? Because I couldn't run it very well with my setup last time I checked.

I dick about on Arma3 a bit. Would like to have the time to get decent at it and get into playing online with a crew but so far haven't.

I used to play the fuck out of Falcon BMS but its bugginess and propensity to crash randomly got to me and I finally quit after years. I think DCS is going to end up totally replacing it, eventually.

I have known people who have said that if you can fly a F-16 in BMS you stand a good chance of being able to pilot one in real life.

Is DiRT: Rally considered a sim game? I'm not saying it isn't, I've just never heard of it described alongside Train Simulator or MS Flight.

I've played the hell out of IL-2 and a little bit out of DiRT and MS Flight, but most of my Autism Games aren't vehicle based - they're like Paradox strategy games, Cities Skylines, Kerbals (kind of vehicle I guess?), that sort of stuff. Building sims and historical sims and science sims, mostly. Do they count?

For military sims besides IL-2, I don't know if Arma or Men of War count, but I play those sometimes too (or would, if Arma didn't think I pirated their dumb game for jerks).

I sinked hundreds of hours into F-22 Total Air War because it had quite interesting dynamic campaign mechanics.

Can anyone recommend some other, possibly more modern games with dynamic campaigns?

Love me some sim racers. Simple as. Been playin a lot of Dirt Rally lately. I dont have a wheel or anything, but I do alright with just a controller.

I dont fuck with the turn based autism sims or any game where I have to control characters by clicking the mouse cuz that shits boring to me, but I've been thinking about dipping my toes into maybe arma or a dedicated aerial combat game.

I like ETS 2, it's a very comfy game to play occasionally. I know this thread is dead but anyone else looking forward to the upcoming heart of Russia expansion?
This aged poorly :story: I hope virtue signalling for Ukraine was worth throwing years of work in the bin and not having a new expansion for like three years.

The excuse I always here is that Russians wouldn't be able to pay for it due to sanctions, but honestly even if they felt that very few non-russians would buy it (war or no war) it would still be better than not releasing it at all. What I'm trying to say is, I wish HoR was released and it still bums me out that it is never coming out.

Has their stance changed on HoR recently? Last i checked it was just delayed until the war ended, which while kinda retarded also makes sense in a way.

If you're a space autist that wants to flip buttons there's this. It's described as "DCS in space." You pilot Mercury*, Gemini, and Apollo (including full Moon mission) craft. I'd like the Soviet side and Skylab/Shuttle/ISS, but it's literally ONE GUY developing it so you get what you get.

*A monkey could pilot Mercury craft, that's not an achievement.

War Thunder simulator battles are an experience. I got a joystick, somewhat of an impulse buy which I'm real good for nowadays. I wanted to use it for Ace Combat (I can't get the piece of shit to work), War Thunder (except peopel say they're worthless in Arcade and Realistic), and Microsoft Flight Simulator when I eventually get that. I've gotten down the basic sense of how to fly now, actually managed to get two kills (but that's like, two kills after HOURS of playing). It's kind of frustrating that the simulators insist on making you search forever for enemies to fight, but that's useful when you start out and don't know how to do basic maneuvers. I like just controlling the plane and its an experience that feels like my hunting game (Call of the Wild), except if the deer was hunting me at the same time. One day I'll get a cheap VR headset, both for War Thunder and for replaying Ace Combat along with the VR-only games.

I tried DCS World, but of course it's an exercise in autism, and pointless to, why the fuck would you even make a checklist to start the plane up if you're not going to model the man flipping the button? But it's easier, somehow, to actually fly in.
