Six Days in Fallujah - A military shooter about a real battle in the Iraq War, back from the dead and more controversial than ever

I get the outrage but like.....lmao military shit.

Is white phosphorus coming back in the game? It better be

White phosphorus is as American as apple pie given how fond we are of it. "When the going gets tough, the tough call in WP." WP hand grenades, WP "smoke" shells for artillery and tanks, WP gravity bombs for aircraft, WP mortar shells, WP 40mm grenades for launchers... the only thing the US is missing for a total arsenal is small arms... but I guarantee you we're working on that.

Technically already happened with this Modern Warfare mission:
The biggest difference from the real event is that you get air support in the mission.
but MW locations and factions are run through the appropriate generic fictionalized process, and counterbalanced with appropriate hand wringing. totally more respectful you see.

Speaking of that recent Modern Warfare game, the controversy pushed by game journalists against it regard the "Highway of Death" campaign mission was a huge load of horseshit, the idea being that the game whitewashes an American war crime by substituting in the Russians. In truth, the real-life event from the Gulf War that goes by the same name was by no means a war crime. The US bombed a retreating Iraqi army, a legitimate target that had invaded and occupied the neighboring country of Kuwait. Keep in mind that a retreating army is not a surrendered army.

The wrongful treatment of Call of Duty and US military over this exemplifies why I don't trust any accusation of war crimes game journalists and their surrounding internet commenters espouse whenever the US military becomes a topic, such is the case when it comes to Six Days In Fallujah as well as the recent outrage and harassment of US military branches having their own Twitch channels.

Wait, we talking Rainbow Six Siege, Rainbow Six Vegas, or the OG Rainbow Six? 'cause the last one wasn't that mainstream, it was rather hardcore.
I hope OG. Vegas is what lead to trash like Siege.

Eeeh...thats debatable. Vegas, while having more simple squad commands and gameplay, still had some moments where tactics could be applied. Siege meanwhile was them taking a cancelled Rainbow Six Patriots game an making that into a straight multiplayer.

Yes, I know. Patriots would have been better than the FPS moba that Siege is. I know it's a commercial success but I'll never consider it a real Rainbow game.

Vegas, for the time, had interesting systems but RB6 was on the decline since Lockdown and Vegas just further arcadeified the series if that makes sense. I enjoyed the cosmetic customization though because I'm a whore for virtual Barbie dress up.

I think a realistic war game where there's a lot of downtime and tedium would be an interesting idea but i'm not sure how well combat would work with that scenario. A player wouldn't be able to hone their skills in any way and then would just get straight up tossed into battle where a wound of any kind would mean they're taken out of the action. It would be almost unplayable and who completely wreck the pace of the game.
Yeah, this exists, it's called playing ARMA on any sort of realistic long-term campaign. Nothing says fun like spending 15 minutes loading up your technical with spare mags, medical equipment, RPG rounds and camping equipment, mounting up, figuring out a route to get to your destination with minimal chances of being detected by the enemy, spending 15 minutes driving there through monotonous terrain, and then getting blown up from beyond your line of sight by a patrolling attack helicopter who picked you up on infrared and annihilated you in 2 seconds with laser guided missiles.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VF0c9SwewpA gameplay trailer , not a fan of the gun sounds but other than that it looks cool , hope the gore is good.
Looks like an adaptation of the Brothers in Arms squad system, which I argue is a decent compromise between realism and playability. That said, BiA's weapons always had something wonky going on with their accuracy, which I rationalized as a counter to how easy it is to aim with a mouse than with the real steel under life-and-death circumstances. Combined with the procedural generation, it looks like they're aiming more for the feel of Fallujah than literal historical accuracy, and I'm not sure how to feel about that. For the time being, my stance remains high hopes, low expectations.

i didnt see it posted so i hope im not being blind but nerdcubed made a video criticizing the game ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTMWCIdolf0 ) , take a shot every time he mentions spec ops the line
The Spec Ops comparisons kill me. Spec Ops doesn't portray a realistic war, it never was intended to portray a realistic war. Even if you like the game, stop bringing it up when it's an apples to oranges comparison.

i think the procedural generation is the right way to go , other wise it would become a boring slog fest of "yeah i know this building inside and out" and just running on autopiolt with no real surprises.

My biggest issue with it is that , well , isnt the us army there to help evac civvies? why do they have a mortar with wp?
