It's the middle one's face I can't all of this looks so uncomfortable sometimes I wonder why they even draw mermaids like this aren't they supposed to be beautiful to lure men to their deaths even sirens don't look like this and there more fish/creature like

There was some whole stink raised a while back saying mermaids would have to be fat / similar to manatees to survive the temperature of the ocean. I think people forgot that mermaids are just FANTASY creatures so they don't need to follow any rules like that. It's obvious they're fat / have body hair here just for diversity I guess.
Also is it just me or does the middle one look vaguely racist? lol

I personally think the best mermaid versions/interpretations were from a book of creatures tied to the Spiderwick Chronicles book series I read as a kid. They made them more like fish, not mammals, so their 'hair' was actually gill filaments or stingers etc and just overall looked really elegant and cool. Not like those hairy monstrosities which I think would make sailors crash their ships just to escape having to see them any longer. Plus they manged to make one of them look ethnic without any ugly stereotype face stuff going on.
