That's a good question since that show didn't care about shipping, even Prince Adam is manlier than most of the SPOP males, Teela and Evil-Lyn are attractive and have breasts and their legs exposed, the animation is actually good, their Hordak wasn't a wuss, and the world building existed.

So those two characters are described as partners/roommates in the game, and have a shared logo of a fishing rod crossing a bug net. So of course all of the SJWs and stuff on Tumblr and Twitter jumped on it and declared them as 'so obviously gay and in a relationship guys!'
Despite the fact that the original Japanese states that they are business partners, with zero connection in any kind of romantic/sexual sense. But anyone who points this out gets REEEE'D at and they always bring up the argument of 'but if one of them was a girl, everyone would be shipping them, so stop being homophobes!'

I've noticed woke shippers have this grudge against fans pairing male and female friend characters together. It's wholly hypocritcal because fangirls are famous for pairing two characters of the same sex (typically male) solely on the grounds of a strong friendship, regardless of how blatantly platonic it is or any feelings either character may have for the opposite sex. Terminal fujoshis have done this with Voltron, Sherlock, really anything that has good-looking guys who are close with each other. I've even seen seemingly Tumblr-unfriendly series like IASIP get the slash treatment. Logic, context, ethics — none of that matters if it gets those ovaries going.

(I know this post is pretty exclusively about slash fangirls, but that's just because it's the most common kind of "shipper" out there by a long shot. Young women/girls making fan content for slash pairings is practically ingrained into fandom culture, it's easy to forget about the amount of "femslash" content out there if that's not what you're into.)

This talk about pairings reminds me of the game where my avatars come from. When it was released, it had 5 characters: two girls, two guys, and a robot. Guess what the popular fan ships are I don't even bother with checking the fanbase anymore, knowing them, they probably headcanoned one of the characters as trans because he's a manlet.

I think the tooth gap thing is from a few panels from the manga where he appears to have one. Not sure, though. It might just be something that's spread throughout different artists.
