i always get kind of annoyed when people draw greek mythology figures black. they're greek, keep them that way.

i'm sure there are myths from african countries they can draw cutesie fanart for. why do they only ever do it to european myths?

To be honest, I think that link design is pretty cute. He's black, but completely recognizable and pretty without being a characture or screaming something dumb at the top of his lungs. The extra details on his outfit make him seem like another incarnation of link like the canon games. It follows the guideline this one artist put out:

That black Link is actually very well drawn, IMO. The light hair + dreads combo irks me, though. Maybe I'm too used to being around mixed-race people, but I'd be perfectly fine with Link there being drawn with dark wavy/curly hair instead. You can do a similar hair style there without having to resort to the mandatory dreads.

these are both really good points. no denying that the artist has talent, which is why I think they could've expanded their creative horizons and made the design more interesting to look at. if they wanted to stick with a blonde/darker skin link I think this kind of hairstyle would've made the design more unique, considering most versions of link we tend to have already have longer hair:

Because Greek myths are normie status of recognizability and everything else means they have to do research, which means work. And you know how much they hate working.

Honestly Sjw ‘artists’ who ‘redesign’ characters only to completely butcher their designs and make them look like entirely different people should literally just make an OC. But then again, they probably don’t even have the creativity to make an interesting character themselves, so they just take someone else’s character and project themselves onto them thus making them overweight/ugly/etc.

damn, everytime there's an "ugly" female character (or character who's tall/muscular/kind of masculine looking) people always headcanon her as trans.

sailor jupiter is trans because she's the tall strong one. sakura from dangan ronpa is trans because she's muscular. that one chick from keep your hands off eizouken is trans because she's tall and has a square jawline.

it's always these types of characters they insist are trans. it's kind of sexist in a way that they refuse to acknowledge that tall/manly looking cis women exist.
