According to some sources, it says that she was cancelled over an "inside joke" that one of the black characters had a brother who was a farmer.

Iirc it was also because his name was Sow or something as well as how they dressed him, i saw a whole thing over it on tumblr this morning

Edit: found a post about it

Does cancelling someone actually do anything though? I see people seething at the mouth saying this and that about a creator and how you shouldn't support them and the creator in question...just doesn't give a shit and moves on with their life.
Usually, unless the person is actively public facing, like Kevin Spacey I guess, they get reprimanded and maybe taken off top billing for certain things. Cancellable behaviour tends to be supported or at least willfully ignored by the people surrounding them. Why would they try to get rid of someone who made money for them that they don't actually hate? Mike Z got hit pretty hard, but that's because a lot of people who worked with him thought he was an asshole alongside the outsiders calling him out.

Wait, I know this chick's art style.
IIRC, she made a couple comic books for children. View attachment 1551862View attachment 1551865
OH MY GOD. My ex sent me a copy of that Prince And The Dressmaker book for Christmas last year after I cut off contact. I thought it seemed SJW-y! The plot is literally about a prince who wants to cross-dress as ~Lady Crystallia~ and falls in love with his seamstress. I haven't read it, but it's so...cringe....

Not really unless they've done something really awful. For something like this, which was just something she said that someone thought was offensive, I doubt she'll suffer.

I'm talking more like people calling out artists like "they drew lolicon" or "they sexualized (insert character here)". I've seen that sorta stuff a little more than the big name cancelling. It never made sense to me for people to cancel the little guy especially over political shit or prudishness.

The first thing that comes to mind is Miracide and how people STILL are tagging anti posts of her with "tw Miracide".

I wanna sperg about how much I hate cottagecore.
Literally any lesbian space these days is filled with these uwu femmes obsessed with it. There’s nothing glaringly wrong with the idea, but half the time they very clearly have no clue what they’re talking about, or just post pics of, like, wet leaves and tag it farmcore or some shit. Spend 500$ on a simple white dress you would have made yourself in those days. Half the headcanons about female characters in any fandom now are about them being lacy gfs. I want my biker tattooed vampire girls back, grrr.

On the flip side, I found probably the only hetero post (ops bio is just a bunch of emojis so going by the pfp i’m guessing they’re female)

You should link this to these girls:

At least they won't have any excuses to not have a decent dress anymore.

This might be late, but Noelle Stevenson (the creator of the Nu-Ra series) got cancelled on Twitter.

Oh come ON. Are black people not allowed to be farmers now?
"Tilling the fields" is uncomfortable? It literally means something different than "farm".
Every time I discover a new and special kind of stupid, I get surprised by the depth of it.

"In Real Life" isn't much better. It's about a redheaded MMO player who befriends a Chinese gold farmer, encourages him to stand up for worker rights, and ends up getting him fired. It all ends up ok in the end through the power of internet activism.

I remember reading a YA novel with a very similar concept, but the main character was a guy. It was called For the Win (because haha vidya game terms). The guy who wrote it is named Cory Doctorow and it turns out that he also wrote In Real Life (also haha vidya games). I read a lot of his stuff in middle school, everything I read was about digital activism or copyright law or hackerz in some form. I can't believe that I've come full circle because of an artist who drew bland softcore porn about an ice cream person.

:story:
Edit: I am pleasantly not surprised that Cory has a few threads about him on here.

I have never heard of there being a specific level of racial friction between farmers and black people. Last I remember, as long as you could work, you could become a farmer whether you were white, black, yellow, or purple.

I'm used to Tumblr (Twitter is Nu-Tumblr tbh) making these insane reaches, but this is downright esoteric. Cool though. Now I know people I can report for being black and a farmer. Racism is a big deal now, so they shouldn't be allowed to work there.

They came to a conclusion like "Black people farming is derived from minstrel shows" and it ends up making them sound more racist than the people they're angry at. The fact that you would think something like that from such a vague comment as a black person tilling a field ( in which, the context was that Noelle was looking for words that rhymed with Bow, the character this sibling belonged to, and thought of Sow. This "sow" would hypothetically sow fields. Not exactly comedic gold, but not racist either. ) Pack it up, black farmers. You don't exist or are a creation of white oppression.

...Why is Barb pink? She's literally gray-colored in the movie. Is making her pink the best the artist could do to make her darker-skinned? Why not make her a darker gray??
It might be based on the lighting (?) in this scene? I just stumbled into this researching for a completely different thread so I have no idea what the context for this is, sorry.

I like the aesthetic of cottagecore, what I don't like is associating it with neo-yuri and then shrieking in rage when it isn't just sweet frilly lacebians who turn up. What are they going to do, try to netorare some grannies?
