I always feel like people read far too much into the whole 'Sherlock Holmes was autistic thing'. Was he, or was he just observant and a bit anti-social? The BBC series really tipped him too far into the autistic territory I think, as the Robert Downey Jr movies (and all previous movies too) just had him as an eccentric who didn't enjoy high society mingling and wanted his own space etc, not what I would call full blown autistic by any stretch.
