I see him as a parody of every shitty edgelord Sonic OC, but I’m not entirely sure if that’s what he was supposed to be. And of course, those same people with the shitty OCs miss the joke.

But there’s more. He was already an established character before Flynn turned him into Scourge. Before, he was just called Evil Sonic or Anti-Sonic, from Anti-Mobius, where all the good guys are bad guys and the bad guys are good guys.
One day, he got tired of being just the evil version of Sonic Prime (the normal Sonic), so he absorbed some energy from the Master Emerald until his quills turned green, stole Sonic’s girlfriend at the time, Fiona (who turned out to be cheating on him the whole time), beat the shit out of him, then went home to beat up a couple warlords and call himself king of the world.
Also, he tried to kill Sonic’s dad, but he called Scourge a bitch and had him running away.
I can’t see it as reading like anything else but a parody.
