I know it's April O'Neil, what's the twitter drama about? Are both pics just examples of black April and someone was complaining about April being blackwashed? I thought at first it was supposed to be someone drawing her too light (in the one show's style) but I don't have any context. It's like someone just posted the last two tweets of a big fight that ended with some rando saying he hates black people to placate the other person.

There were people claiming that one of the creators of the original TMNT comic said April was inspired by a black woman they knew, so people took it to mean the character is black. People did some digging and found out that, while true, The character was inspired a black lady, it only her personality, the character IS white in the OG comics.
I guess it didnt help the old comic was in black and white so I guess people thought there was more than enough wiggle room to make her black.

They do not bother do anything to make any Kombatants faithful and just fuck it and draw them with any quota and shoving LGTV+ shit so that they can attract the more active and terminally online ones across the internet.

Like, I know how these people tend to have a warping of reality in their heads, but even this is too far.

Man, what I am about to say is going to get me a veritable harvest of top hats.

I have seen this image a lot of times, and it's funny. If I was still younger, I would still find this funny, or at the very least be apathetic about it.

But then I started taking art seriously. And I went to college for it. And I happened upon an art teacher that also took it seriously, and built me up from the foundation.

If you are like me, and you were never gifted at art, it's a shitload of practice, and a shitload of study. Looking at your drawings, seeing the parts where it isn't quite right, trying to internalize how it all moves and trying to basically turn your brain into a lightbox to pose everything that you are trying to put down just right.

It's hard to actually try to be good. And it's for the vain hope, that eventually you can make it even slightly in an overcrowded industry.

And I see this asshole, twiddling about with fucking coloring books, and she's gonna spout that her "work" was just as valid, and her "queer arts" degree is going to go right next to mine under the section of "Art Major." In fact, due to the hiring practices of most companies now, it might even be worth more.

In the immortal words: "Fuck the word artist. If someone calls me that, it's the same as them calling me a drooling retard."
