In that logic, deep yaoi fans like guys who look and act like girls but aren't attracted to girls themselves. They also tend to hate yuri for some reason.
I've got no problem with yaoi, it's the fangirls acting as if they're pariahs fighting for gay rights and fighting sexual objectification of men with this shit rather than just admitting that they're just getting off on objectifying men.

So one fine evening I was double-streaming some doodling with a friend on Picarto. So we're drawing, doing our own thing, I'm taking stupid sketch requests and whatnot because I had no inspiration...
And in comes the owner of the above blog. So she's there and she posts some messages in the chat and all of a sudden she's like 'hey do youtake requests?' and my friend replies 'I'm not but Piggy here is'. So I ask her to tell me what she wants and she starts rambling about this 'webcomic idea' she and her 'friends' are 'working on' but neither of them could actually draw and their main artist fucked off so...

The webcomic was supposed to be called Winx Reimagined and it was basically just a slice-of-life Winx fancomic where, I quote, 'nobody is cis or straight'.

And she wanted me to draw full ref sheets and illustrations for that shit-- To which I replied that I'd do as a commission (more out of politeness than anything, but oh well).
And she calls me transphobic because I refused to do full art for her pander-fest for free before she started sperging about the seven billion existing genders and whatnot.

The other people in the chat started bullying her and my friend, who was hosting the stream, politely told her to fuck off.

Wild fucking ride.

I always thought that Winx is more or less safe. It always was a fandom somehow separated from others. A few ugly pictures with fat Stella.

Somewhere in this sea of trendy ugliness I realised at least part of the horseshoe effect (eg drawing stereotypical black people is progressive) is because they're trying to celebrate it. By glorifying stretch marks, large noses, unshaven pits, fat folds and self harm scars, they get to be proud of things they're actually insecure of. But over time now it's just something the cool kids draw and if you don't you're not progressive enough and shame on you for finding things unattractive!
I'm sad that there's a generation of teens out there who will pick up these horrible habits and break all the rules of art before even knowing they exist.

I think part of it is an attempt to shame people (especially men) for liking woman who aren't like them. Why else do these people whine about having more really fat, ugly and/or covered-up women in media? Or why something that appeals to men is considered problematic.
