Which is really dumb since most myths and religions out there have really interesting stories, but tumblr being tumblr, they just go towards what's easily available/low hanging fruit.

Kinda reminds me of once I saw some exceptional user making "modern aesthetic" graphics of characters from the Bible (i know, weird), but the weirdest thing is that they turned "modern" Mary Magdalene into a muslim.

Most of them are American, and while they screech and brag about how foreign their origins are, they will often know close to nothing when it comes to actual culture unless they can apply it to their hip, moder, american ways of life.

This is the problem with so many SJW artists, like odlaws, they're American and yet they seem to want to be owners of certain art styles from their heritage, to the point of screeching to anybody using it that isn't peeohcee, despite the fact that they've never lived in that culture or learned much about it.

Cultures are there to be shared or else they'd be lost forever.

Since the characters are all fat but no other diversification was applied, I put my money on fetish art.

Surprisingly they aren't fetish art. The artist of these is Thumbcramps, a "body positive" artist who draws all her women with more-or-less the same face and body type. She's the artist behind that chubby otome game mentioned earlier in the thread and I'm sure she was mentioned on other threads at some point. I wouldn't consider her to be Person of Interest material (yet), though she did chimp out a bit after people pointed out that "fatphobia" isn't equivalent to racism or homophobia (link, archive).

What's funnier is that Muslims don't see Christ as the messiah. So seeing Jesus getting crucified wouldn't mean as much as a Jew.

Really funny when you consider there's like, asian mythology and polynesian and african religions and myths and all that, but they never get as much attention in tumblr as "white" religions. And then they make all those racebended graphics of Zeus or Aphrodite. lewl.

The only reason they're so into Greek mythology is cause of those Percy Jackson books.

I thought it was freaking Sesame Street in SJW art style, before I clicked it. Also, I like how the logic of that comic is that not believing female protagonist/character= sexism, and arguing on that= proofing sexism.

I guess I know where the awful webcomic La Cosa Nostra got it from now, I was used to just speculating that all the characters were drunk 100% of the time.

My theory for the tumblr nose is that it's there for the sake of making the face look more detailed or 'busy'. As if the artists feel something's missing and blush takes that empty space. I hope the success of the manga artist ONE brings more the idea that a simple face can work

Worse is when it's combined with the "noodle limbs" anatomy that is common in cartoons like Adventure Time, Regular Show and Sanjay and Craig.
