Vocaloid's been getting a lot of SJW/tumblr cringe lately. Doesn't help there's this upcoming English Vocaloid literally created for the sake of being a tumblrina's wet dream.

That's 100% a fanwork, though, so that cringe was part of the fan wave to begin with. Everything about it also looks like shit (they're taking voices from tumblr instead of hiring professional voice actors, for one, which is going to be wonderful I'm sure), so about what you would expect.

The group consists of Vocaloid fans. PowerFX agreed to aid in the development and distribution of Oliver for VocaTone. However, after Oliver, the group have announced they will do it alone.

Since they are a fan based group, they rely on the overseas Vocaloid fandom for support; they do not have the same backing as other professionals do.

So basically, they talked a company that works with Yamaha to help them, but isn't backed by them. It's fan stuff, just more successful than most fan stuff.

No worries, whats kinda funny though is since they don't have a legit company helping them and putting them in a normal human direction - they've now moved on to SJW madness that I doubt Yamaha will approve. If that comes to pass, I want to see the "Japan is evil" salt the community likes to put out.

It bothers me since they always make the "POC"/racebended characters look ugly as sin. Like, they do know POCs can be attractive, right? Somewhat suggesting only white people can be beautiful is pretty racist in itself...

But you have a point, Yamaha can just ultimately tell them to gtfo since companies need the license to sell these.

Not only that, but they also want to change what people see as beautiful. Slender models with nice faces are "problematic" because "they conform to European beauty standards", and think that it's progressive to find fat, bloated, ugly people attractive.

One example is that they think pale skin is a white people's beauty standard. Ignoring the fact that tan skin is often in fashion, a lot of East Asians also held the sentiment that pale skin = pretty long before they encountered Europeans, because it was associated with nobility and status. It was associated with high status because if you were pale, it meant you weren't working in the fields like a poor farmer.

stuff that's actually important to start showing as beautiful to destroy eurocentric beauty standards: monolids, natural hair, dark skin, wide noses, flatter/less angular faces, bonier/ large noses, etc (actual characteristics other races have that are beautiful and interesting)
stuff that does fuck all for "challenging eurocentric beauty standards" and is kinda racist due to implications: obesity, deformity, disease, general fuckery

I've been binging this thread but there's one thing I just don't get. A lot of these artist go out of their way to draw certain female characters with a ton of body hair, even though most artist unless they are drawing more realistically don't draw body hair at all whether the character is male or female (unless it's like an extremely buff dude in some cartoons.) And It's almost as if they go out of their way to make it look very ugly, which goes against their supposed cause to be supportive to women who don't shave (Though most of these artist in my personal experience do shave/preform femininity anyway.)
