SJW Art and Extremes

Why does Tumblr have an obsession with vitiligo?

  • Suicide Girl model and America's Next Top Model contestant have it, spread on Tumblr, that's why.

They didn't even get the emmotion right.

This came across my wall today. Apparently some SJW is publishing a graphic novel version of Little Women for the #metoo era and naturally everyone is gay/transgender but that's not what caught my attention.

Look at this fucking art.

From what I know, Robert had Meg with his first wife, Maddie had Jo from another marriage and when Robert and Maddie married, they had Beth and Amy. From what I've read so far, it's not too bad and there are some nice parts. Here's some things that stood out...

  • It seems that Jo is probably going to either going to become trans of non-binary in the future. She also has some SJW moments where she will automatically say "happy holidays, which is politically correct" when anyone says merry Christmas and when Amy is wondering why she's playing a guy character in Mortal Kombat, Jo replies, "Don't try to trap me in your gender norms. This is the 21st century."
  • Amy is still the same annoying brat she was in the book and movie. (My sister actually skipped parts of the book with her in it.) But, I just don't see Amy (even in the modern times) being into violent video games and making comics about monsters. (Nor does this one have fairy tale fatasies of using her looks to marry a rich man.) I'd see her being into shojo manga, especially romance ones; Disney princesses and not wanting anything to do with anything violent.
    • There will me a subplot with Amy and a bully who is attacking her for racial reasons. I suggested to the creative team that the bully should be black since it would be a change of pace on the subject of racism and show that other races can be cruel to each other due to skin color and since Amy would look more like the bully, it would hit her harder. Thankfully, the author appreciated my idea and I hope the creative team goes with it.
  • Beth and Meg are handled decently and I'm curious how Beth will get sick in this one (and what disease).
  • Laurie is now about Jo's age in this version and dark skinned.

its not awful, but i just cant get over the tumblrish art style- it looks less like its been made by a real person with heart and soul and more like its been put thru a generator to tumblr-ify it, with the settings on "mild"
it's very obvious the artist copied and mirrored most of the bodies [and in some characters cases, the whole damn body. robert with that uncomfortable stance like he has the worst sunburn...]
idk the source material so idk what they actually looked like, but i assume none of em were originally black, brown, or a reject steven universe background character

Here's some artist's rendition which is better drawn and is what the characters would normally look like.

Cecil in the original looks like he's up to no good. Cecil in the remake looks like he just jizzed himself.
Perhaps the artist couldn't resist making look a bit uguu. Simple smirk or smug grin would make him look like he's up to no good rather than looking like he's high.
