Most of these characters would look really cute and interesting, if they were ocs not redesigns of others ocs and real people....i really like that first kishima pic it would make for a cute character design in of it self. This exactly. The "Diverse Stardew" mod I linked to several pages back had a lot of really neat character designs (Black Elliott, Asian Sebastian, and Native American Leah were especially well done.) They would have made really interesting OC NPCs if added in the game. Too bad artists these days care more about "fixing" diversity issues by race bending canon white characters than putting all that effort into crafting their own. It's such a waste of talent piggybacking on already existing works of art.

The first one would've been such an adorable OC art. The rest, however, are terrible.

That first artist does have a nice "soft round pastel" style, but the sheer weirdness of the character made me include it... and really none of their fanart looks much like the characters. It kind of works when they draw characters like Ashido though. Just... not for the guys. Especially Kirishima.
Can't help thinking it would be better suited to OCs, but I guess if you want popularity then you need to draw fanart.

Honestly the only perfect Stardew Valley portrait mod is Dewmitrius Valley.

An especially salient part of it I remember was that a large swath of the art these girls were producing depicted one of the YouTubers as middle-eastern because he talked with a Swedish accent and used a tanned skin, which is adequately foreign enough to make you black I guess. (You can see this was three years ago.) He did a face reveal and was, surprise, white as fuck, but there was a huge fight over whether he could still be black even if he was white.

These "real life person headcanons" are one of the darkest thing i've seen out of tumblr and i can only assume these people have actual mental problems. Like, it's even worse than real life celebrity shipping because at least that makes sense (teenagers are dumb afterall) but this is really really fucked up, especially the part where these people would like to see their idols crippled.

For the white character (whoever she is), you could just chalk it up to lighting since making use of tones (and whatever it is) to achieve the look of a shadow can affect color. As for Stevonnie clothes, why would that really be an issue? Most of the shit-talking done on this thread is more of crappy race bends, crappy clothing edits, and the like. If anything, this would more or less be one of the least eye-searingly bad pieces of art to of graced this thread.
