The property has to be either currently relevant or it's a part of an ongoing franchise. Something like The X-Files or Twin Peaks does have a strong fanbase on Tumblr, and I still see a lot of fanart related to it, but because the majority of the material is over two decades old, there's fanart with the SJW treatment where characters are racebent or made transgender.

To add to this point, I've noticed that a lot of the franchises prone to Tumblr/SJW popularity are the ones that are in some form or another steemed in pop/nerd culture and references. For instance you got everything Marvel churns out that is not only a boy band-esque line-up of malleable dudes to fantasize about and ship with each other, but they're treated both by fans and executives as Comic Book Lite where you say you're a fan of Marvel without ever needing to touch a comic. But then you got stuff like Undertale where, while not directly referencing any one game, has a bunch of little in-jokes in relation to RPG elements and anime enough to trigger the 'Member Berries.

The property cannot be overly violent, sexual, or scary. SJWs don't tend to like horror movies very much, especially older ones.

But yeah, this whole debacle of what gets SJW treatment and what doesn't is placed firmly in how popular/relevant a piece of media is and if it has "attractive characters" for these girls to fap to (pretty guys and "kick butt" warrior grrrls). So for example something like Les Mis wouldn't seem something that would attract them at first glance (an old-ass book centered around an old guy?), but the musical's always been running and it has plenty of pretty boys, so that gets the girls steaming.

And yeah, it has nothing to do with valuing actual diversity, or celebrating genuine POC characters, but it's all about "pissing white people off". Hence why you see more attention given to something like Indian Harry Potter over canon characters like Chad from Bleach. (And in a way, it's mostly often over black characters the way they act over this. You don't see them sperging like this over latinos (Coco just came and went) and Asians...pfft, they blackwash them to hell and back).

Dude, are you kidding, Tumblr is full of people who love musicals. It doesn't surprise me at all that there's terrible Tumblrfied Les Mis art. Nerdy women just really seem drawn to musicals.

The term "racebending" first came from the Avatar: The Last Airbender fandom in response to the M. Night Shyamalan film adaption of the series. A lot of fans were angry that the main characters were cast as white children, despite them being obviously based on Tibetan monks (Aang) or Inuits (Katara and Sokka). Of course, it would turn out that the movie was fucking shit and simply casting actors that matched the races of the characters would not be enough to save it.

AFAIK Homestuck is what really made it take off. What w/ the trolls not being human and the kids technically not having canon races (they were all pretty much confirmed white until Hussie retconned it cuz people’s fee-fees were hurt) the Proto-SJWs if Tumblr kinda went wild with making the whole cast stereotypes “diverse”.

From there everything went down hill.

I think it's because Coco was the wrong kind of Latino (legal and not dark enough).

My guess is that would take research, they can't push out whitey, and they might run into things that don't make them look perfect (We Wuz Kangs).

How do you go from making intricate hair styles to a nondescript drape on your characters head. Tumblr nose and shit freckles notwithstanding the middle picture looks the best. It's just as generic but it's not boring. Like you can still draw the same hair style but with afro textured hair.

That first Hatsune Miku redraw was actually kinda cute. The second one has really awkward anatomy, as well as an weird "black=thicc" theme, though. Third one was a messy doodle.

Even if it's that candy trickster thing, that pic has a slim resemblance to Nepeta. While I'm not a fan of HS, and didn't get past (Before I gave up, skipped to the latest update, and not come back until the finale update.) the part where Eridan killed Kanaya, I do know that Nepeta lives in a cave, with only an art tablet and her claws. She is implied to be the shortest and tiniest, in a athletic, strong way.
Judging by her canon outfits, Nepeta would have an outfit more kid-like and of darker colors, and one more durable for hunting and stealthing. While Nepeta would probably have the least curvaceous shape, her face would be the most feminine and cute, child-wise. Seeing as she's portrayed as a kitty girl, she wouldn't have arm hair like that. Cats do clean up after themselves.
