Why does Tumblr have an obsession with vitiligo?

  • Suicide Girl model and America's Next Top Model contestant have it, spread on Tumblr, that's why.

i love how velma is asian since that doesn't yell racial stereotyping (just when it's an asian girl with a colored streak in her hair. then that's bad). honestly though, the art style isn't bad. i like the take they took with their outfits.

That being said, I'm genuinely curious if these dipshits have bled into real life people. Say, making Kpop stars suddenly trans or ... Black. Or something. I may have missed it on a page or two prior, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's out there.

A bit late, sorry. Haven't been keeping up with the thread.

I posted this pic earlier in the thread. Its supposed to be the boyband BTS.

But it was also pretty common for kpop fans to "unwhitewash" pics, by turning them oranger than Trump. It was pretty funny tbh, they were blaming white people for east asia's obsession with pale skin.

I dont know if they still do this.

However, I did aome digging and I really wish I hadn't.

Yeah changing real life people's gender and sexuality to feel good about yourself is totally not creepy at all.

Are these people legitimately exceptional? These are real life people. You can't just make them trans, gay, black etc. That's just dehumanizing.

To be honest, Tumblr is the least of these idols worries. The artwork is terrible, but at least they aren't poisoning fans (except for Undertale but that's another story). I don't have the time to get into it but many east Asian idols have to deal with a lot of crap from fans in most cases it's supported by their producers to sell themselves to their fans. In some cases idols are legally prevented from dating so they can be seen as an object of desire by their fanbase. It's pretty fucked, but I'll let you look up the video by The RPG Monger who goes into waaayy more detail about some of the crap people have to deal with.

The Snake/Otacon and Kaede drawings (and the Naruto one somewhat as well) look more like a style choice to make the colors more neutral and contrast less to give off that "soft" look, especially since in the Snake/Otacon and Naruto drawings their skin is all the same color. Snake's clothes are lighter and Kaede's vest is redder than in their actual designs as well.

And aren't the two characters in the middle gay trap/crossdressing fetish fuel? I'm also kind of impressed that they think a girl forced to crossdress from a show that spends an entire episode calling her dad (mom?) a "tranny" is transgender/representation.

"Yes, let's totally ignore the author/artist's wishes for their own work, and when they clarify not to mad at something that isn't true, double down and get mad! That'll work!"

Seriously, while I think these people are nuts some artists need to really get thicker skin and double down on this bullshit. The more you let people sway and change your opinion the more they're gonna try to do shit like this because they think it works.

On the other hand, these people are also whiny crybabies who just want their way. And inserting themselves into another person's work just shows how much disrespect they have for others wanting to give people some form of entertainment. It just can't exist as a character it has to be another form of a political statement.

Also, I found this on Tumblr
HAVE YOU NEVER..JPG

Who are these people kidding? 90% of Graffiti is bullshit and vandalism. It's not an "art" to be protected. Many times people do it as a form of crime. People, not just upper class neighborhoods have the right to be upset when their yard gets completely vandalized by some asshole. The professional stuff you see displayed? The good shit they're comparing this crap to? That's usually paid for by the local municipality or they have a permit with some restrictions. Just spray-painting anywhere you want doesn't automatically make it a "message" or "powerful"

tl:dr Random Vandalism with paint =/= Art and does not help make a neighborhood look nicer. People are upset for a reason.

Here's a cool thing:

These characters are represented in media already. You drawing an asian character as black or making a presumably cis character trans isn't going to have an impact other than within your small circle of friends and at most just tumblr. It won't be the representation that actually matters.

Go make your own content with original characters and you can make them as dark skinned and special and otherkin as you want. Get that content published or in the public eye. THEN the representation you so crave will be seen.

That is ............................. unless these idiots just want ... progressive points ... (likely)

I wouldn't have such a problem with the art if the art was actively, objectively good.

Like: Sure, redesign the HeroAca costumes.

Fine.

But why change the characters completely?

Like going back to the Kirishima redesign, I can almost see what they were trying to say. Maybe the problem is the cold.

So make it so that he has an open sleeveless vest or something that the gears are attached too. Boom. There ya go. You changed the costume, maybe kinda improved it, but you didn't include any god damn fucking cancer!

(Also, anyone call out Rory art or whatever her name is on how her Kylo Ren is bullying of Adam Driver who had self esteem issues growing up because of how he looked?)
