Why can't these people fucking draw basic anatomical details? Sonia (girl on the right) has a backwards hand, the artist can lift up their hand and see that the thumb goes inwards when the palm is facing forward like that. Don't even get me started on that Yuri on Ice picture, or I swear to god I'll have a fucking stroke.

The other thing about it is that it’s so easily replicable that it’s easy to identify the ones who use it that also aren’t brushing up on their fundamentals or practicing life drawing every once in a while. Even some of the people at the professional studio level seem to be committing this artistic sin, and the end result seems to be that they aren’t capable in drawing any other way.

I noticed exactly this just recently with the twitter hashtag ArtistvsPersona. Quite a lot of professionally hired cartoonists would draw their CalArts cartoon selves, and very well--but when they drew a more realistic self portrait, you could see their life drawing skills are absolute dog shit. What were supposed to be genuine attempts at a realistic human likeness looked deformed and uneducated in fundamentals, to the point it's actually kind of infuriating.

The Uffizi Gallery will be told (in English, none of these coddled WASPs know anything about language or culture) that the Birth of Venus can't remain on display unless Venus is painted brown, given giant lips that would be called racist by SJWs who draw them, and has a breast binder painted onto her with a cartoon speech bubble saying "I'm a boi". Is this parody at this point? The whole cast is also various shades of unrecognisble brown people too which I don't mind because it's fantasy but one of the characters is a K-pop star so Idk how this world works.
