SJW Art and Extremes

Why does Tumblr have an obsession with vitiligo?

  • Suicide Girl model and America's Next Top Model contestant have it, spread on Tumblr, that's why.

tbh i really like the new she-ra. it isn't perfect but i still really like it and i think hating on the new one bc it's different is kinda dumb. the old she-ra has it's own charm and i understand why people like it. but i prefer the new one because i think the characters are more interesting and expressive and tbh i think some of the designs are better than the original one, especially catra ♥. i know a lot of you will disagree with me but that's my opinion.

Powerlevel much? You don’t have to explain your preferences here, mate. We all know you’re gonna be fapping to hentai tiddy soon enough after this brief psychotic break .

Okay, so. After stalking this forum thread for a while I finally decided to make myself an account so I can post in here - because BOY do I have a lot of atrocious art in store.

First of all, let me introduce you to the pits of a hell called: ArtFight.
The concept itself is really interesting and there are some very cool people participating, but it acts like a neodymium magnet for SJWs and terrible, terrible art - oh, and furries.

On the website there is a feature that brings you to a random character someone owns. So let's try this:

these just seem like amateur furry shit, not SJW art. well. the second one is definitely because of the manhater shit, but the rest of it doesn't really belong here. the first and last ones just look like they were made by literal children so..

this ain’t it chief

I highly advise you to lurk more.

ETA: SJW Art isn’t just a picture of a furry, or bad art in general. SJW Art is ambiguous brown skin, adding 200 pounds to a character for no reason, covering up skin, unexplained eczema, flashing pride flags, or having a message about gay rights or the like.

A quick google image search of ‘sjw art’ will give you a rough idea for what the thread is made to mock.

I don’t think this was mentioned before, but there’s a redesign blog that’s like BABD, but with anime girls drawn in “practical” clothes. The FAQ pretty much has the same arguments and counter arguments with a little less snark. Her art isn’t too horrible, but the girls themselves look like they have Down syndrome:
The author accepts and reblogs submissions, too:

These straps not only look retarded but would block your entire peripherial vision. I kinda like when these "pratical redesigns" try so hard to be pratical they go full circle and becomes impratical again.

I decided to look some more into that site and found this...

YHE Says: I can't really see Starfire being into the Samurai style (her personality wouldn't gel with that way of thinking). And what's with that hair that made me laugh when I saw it?

Suit meant to fly in, pilot ships, be flamable

Of all reasons to redesign Starfire, why would anyone pick this? Starfire can already fly and shoot beams through space casually, why the would she ever use a ship? And even if she is using a ship, why would her "space suit" be armored yet have no helmet?

That's like giving Superman a bullet proof vest so he can drive cars safer.

Welcome to the farms, fam.

And I don't know anything about ArtFight so.... I don't get it.

Artfight is a site and yearly event in which artist put up characters they want to be drawn. Usually the artist are separated into two teams and each team will draw the other's characters for points. It's basically a month where artists of all skills get to practice on various characters and get art of their characters.

Indeed. In nearly every iteration of Starfire's design, her outfit is usually simple, streamlined, and revealing and/or form-fitting.

Even in more kid-friendly media such as 2003 Teen Titans, Teen Titans Go! and DC Superhero Girls, relatively modest takes on her outfits still echo the same basic design philosophy.

That cluttered samurai-inspired redesign doesn't fit her or her aforementioned design philosophy at all (as well as her backstory -- but that's a topic for another day.)

I don’t remember her backstory very well, but I do remember her powers were “fueled” by her lack of clothing? It was something like that.

I think she got her powers from exposing her skin to sunlight, so she wore the absolute bare minimum of clothes to be at max power. (Correct me if I'm wrong tho)

I knew about her being fueled by the sunlight and her tendency to wear minimal clothing, but I've never put two and two together until now. Good observation!

Don't worry about your lack of knowledge in Starfire's backstory -- I'm no expert on DC Comics lore, either. I'm mostly familiar with the original New Teen Titans comic book and the 2003 animated series. Even then, it's been a long while since I've either read or watched that superhero title.

Somewhat off-topic, but I unearthed the Slasher Fandom on Tumblr and they might just be the least SJW-infested. It’s ironic considering slasher films are known for sexuality/nudity especially on the female cast’s side, a ton of violence and majorly white male villains (who tend to become more favored over the protagonists they kill). These folks are refreshingly honest about what they like, and its mostly just ladies thirsting over slashers.

The most SJW thing I found are random sexualities being slapped on the slashers and some of them being woobified because they are “neurodivergent”.

(Apparently this is supposed to be Carrie White. Not sure what she’s supposed to be.)

(The last dude is supposed to be Ghostface, although which one I dunno.)

This killed my love of horror movies and ruined my day.

I've never seen this show, so I dunno what the characters originally looked like, but this actually looks pretty good to me. The girls are drawn nicely and are pretty and aren't whales (haha get it) with vitiligo and 85 billion pride flags.
I like it tbh.

They know "The Indian Ocean" is just a name, right? That it's not actually Indian, and touches a whole lot more than just India? They could have taken this opportunity to represent some actually unknown peoples instead of a painfully stereotypical indian woman. Who am I kidding, they put eskimos in crop-top fur parkas under water, they don't give a fuck.

This never looks good. If you need to draw random lines that represent nothing on your faces to make them interesting maybe you should work on your faces instead of copying other people's crutches.

It's not the worst art in the world, but I'll give you a picture of what the green haired girl is supposed to look like for comparison. The real problem is that the art is seemingly making the mermaids more accurate to where they're supposed to be from, but the main character is still white and the arctic mermaid, who should be white as hell, looks vaguely brown. Unless they're going for an eskimo, which just makes no sense. The girl's name is Noel.
