Why do Tumblr artists all draw exactly the same way? What the fuck is this disgusting art style? This Steven Universe/Scott Pilgrim shit. Jesus Christ. I'm so sick of seeing this shit.

• Noodles for arms.
• Wibbly-wobbly outlines.
• Washed out pastel colors.
• CalArts grille teeth.
• Big round identically androgynous baby faces with no definition.
• Flat-shading with no perspective.

It's more than just weird diversity crap. It's almost like this is an art style that's designed for people with no artistic talent and calculated to be the exact opposite of anything to do with testosterone. Take all the worst parts of shoujo manga - the thin, lifeless ballpoint pen outlines, the noodly limbs, the disproportionate figures - and then slap in some CalArts crap, and you have the Tumblr Style. Every time I see this shit, I need to go look at some Frank Frazetta or Brian Bolland to wash my eyes out.

Good comic art has solidity, volume, and presence. Varying line thicknesses are used to suggest detail and depth. A real comic artist can do with ink alone what these Tumblr morons can't do with colors.



Our art schools need to get back to teaching people how to do real art instead of participation trophy bullshit.

I personally don't mind the whole same-artstyle thing too much. It evolves every ten years. Remember the 2007 anime artstyle? If I was an artist I would use this to stand out among the sea of slanted mouths and semi-realistic noses with something that looks completely different.

That fact that this person troons out baby ponies is unsettling enough as it is. I swear this person should be on FBI’s most wanted list.

Lopoddity is a teacher last I heard. She interacts with kids daily.

I'll say that at least she adds some personality to her characters. She's not anti-male either--she just wants every male to be gay/trans/a crossdresser/pansexual/etc. I'm just really sick and tired of everyone worshiping her when she's mostly just using a harmless kid's show to pander to her personal fetishes and politics.

She hates males. Which is exactly why none of them are straight. A straight Male is a bad male.

And no. Her characters have no personality. Half of them are angry gay. The other half is angsty gay or happy gay. What personality there is is the characters fucking each other and how they behave in bed/intimate moments. Not much outside of their sexuality seems to matter.

Also most of her ideas aren't even her own ideas. Lopoddity has a lacky... I mean, a "friend ", who feeds her all of her ideas which mostly boil down to how characters come out of the closet or who fucks who. She is at least kind enough to give that person credit.

Small Edit: From what I can tell, Lopoddity is a bit of a bitch but not worthy of her own thread. If nothing else its her followers who are the cows. I've read comments about her followers bullying other artists (who are more than likely just kids) because they had pony ocs which vaguely resembled an oc made by their pony queer rep lord and savior. Also yeah she did suffer Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Found this journal a while ago, I'm surprised her legions didn't overrun it in her defense.

But this is the worst I think she's ever been. She's rude to people and up her own ass with gay horse fame.

Rumors are she'll steal ideas from lesser known artists but I think literally every popular artist on DA does that. I've heard other stories about her telling white people they aren't allowed to wear braids because it is cultural appropriation and...that's about it. DA users just have to deal with seeing her art on the front page forever. At worst she'll be trying to brain wash young kids into thinking they are trans. She seems very committed to that.

But hopefully DA will crash and burn with this abhorrent Eclipse design. It is nothing but an eyesore!

E.g say you have all the Calarts style showrunner buddies trying to gate keep and making the same kind of style show but then some person comes in one day that has a completely different and unique style to them that works really hard to the point where their idea is of kick ass quality and really popular to the point where the higher ups notice the talent and wonder 'why don't we have have more people like this working here and bringing in the money?' then start trying to get more talented people in to the point where the Calarts people have to quit or get laid off.

There's a stairway in the CN studio building where everybody draws art on the wall, and the guy that designed Spike Spiegel for Cowboy Bebop drew Spike on the wall. Well some fucking nobody intern came and used permanent marker and drew that ugly calarts monkey lookin' face right over top of it, zero respect.
