I've seen this sentiment a lot on Tumblr and really shows how surface levels these bitches are. You're literally saying you're a yaoi/yuri fanfucker, jesus Christ. Everything you say about being progressive or caring about representation in media is all thrown out the window with that one little statement. It's like blackwashing characters and then someone finds your active porn account with BBC faves and art everywhere.

On a side note, notice how these bitches who say het ships are boring have vanilla ass and tame as fuck gay ship art. If you're gonna say something like that, at least do something like having grand epics or porn with your ships instead of the 5,000th cafe au .

The worst, most annoying thing I've seen with this mindset is when people will take a popular straight pairing and headcanon (read: genderbend with extra steps) the male character as being a GNC he/him trans lesbian. So the male character will look exactly the same, act exactly the same, be referred to essentially the same, but it's not straight it's gay!! People are so afraid of shipping a het ship that they'll bend over backwards and play 3D chess with identity politics.

Hell, I've even seen this done with gay ships, where someone straight up said "These two male characters as men are whatever to me, but headcanoning them both as lesbians makes it interesting" while also doing nothing to change their appearances or interactions to reflect any kind of gender change. They just like the labels.

This is pretty much half of the Jojo fandom. Mostly the latter part but also with shippers making a character trans so it's gay but not TOO gay.

It all starts to make sense when you think about it.
These Tumblr artists want to make everything so realistic, that they’re willing to destroy the fun that comes with the realism. Everything has to be touchy-feely with them rather than them being self-reflective and introspective with their art.

If you can even call it art at this point.

Most of the "he him" lesbians I've encountered are just cis lesbians with such extreme internalized misogyny/homophobia that because they're not traditionally feminine or don't feel comfortable being labelled as a woman who loves other women they go with male/neutral pronouns instead of asking themselves why they feel that way. And of course they get asspats from the rest of the community for being so Woke. *sigh*
